Help Battery, performance and overheating problems.

Does anyone have any idea on how to stop or at least help stop my phone from freezing and having to wait till the battery dies in order to reboot impossible to turn off.
Rubbish battery life.
Screen goes black occasionally and have to reboot.
Back and front of phone get very hot on occasions. Especially when charging.

I haven't had this phone a year yet and its a 2 year contract. Hope someone can help.

The battery drain will most likely be caused by an erring app or apps. Did you update to Kitkat/v4.4 recently? I also have this problem after updating. In fact, out of frustration, I have created a different thread soliciting help on how to downgrade to v4.3. But as time went on, app updates started trickling in (most likely to address compatibility issues with Kitkat) and most of my battery life problems are gradually being fixed.
 
Thanks for getting back to me. Yes I did update my phone not so long back. I was told by the shop who swapped my Xperia Z for the Z1 to keep it upto date at all times so that it runs properly. Although I've never had so many problems.

Can I ask, do you also get it where it appears a black line flashes across your screen from side to side. Its gone in secods. Or when you're texting or emailing, anything where the keyboard os used, sometimes a black line comes under the keyboard budging everything up the phone. Again only temporary but a nuisance non the less.

Yeah, the Kitkat update was a bit of a pita for me. For the first week, my phone seemed to be always in a meltdown and was down to 20% in about a couple of hours... and that's with STAMINA turned on. I had to keep it connected to the charger almost the whole day. But so far in the last 3-4 days, it's been playing nice and appears to be going back to its former self.

As for the black lines, I don't think I've seem it happening on my screen. If it comes out only when the keyboard is up, it's likely a software/app problem. If you can make it appear by physically tapping on any part of the screen (ie. simulate typing a message without the keyboard), it may mean a hardware problem.
 
Hi. No its just when the keyboard is in use and up as i am typing. The black bar that has the down arrow home key and multi screen icons on either gets bigger shifting the whole screen up or that completely disappears and theres just a big thick black bar. Its very rare it lasts more than a few seconds at the moment but its extremely annoying. It seems to make the phone screen flash off and causes me to hit the wrong keys. Is there anyway of sorting out any potential software problems!? I really don't want to have to keep sending this phone in for repair. As i am speaking to you now its just done it now but on this occasion the black part appeared on the left of the screen and everything shifted right slightly. Again only a split second. I had to send the Xperia Z back 5 times then eventually enough was enough and told them i wanted the Z1 or keep their contract. And here all the problems are starting again. No where near as bad as the Z but it is starting to get me annoyed.

Are you using any keyboard replacement? If you're still using the stock one, try installing a 3rd-party keyboard such as SwiftKey. That might circumvent the problem.

Beyond that, I'm stumped. My guess on what's causing it is as good as anyone's.
