Root Battery pull and 'lost' apps?

Can somebody help me understand what happens to Titanium BU, my Calendar, Contacts, and other apps (certainly not all of them) but after the reboot and I try to open say TB, it gives me a message that states the app is not installed on my phone or in the case of my Calendar, it comes up with an "Add an Exchange account" form. Also Gmail tells me it's not installed on my phone!?!?!?! All I did was pull the freakin battery and reinstalled it! How is best way to get this stuff back in its proper place.

Oh yeah, my Google Market/Play app disappears as well then I have to get out onto the web to reinstall it! Tired of this...

you're on decks reloaded right?
Geez did I have an issue with that happening to me.
I got the solution, at least on my phone.
If you are on Decks reloaded let me know and I'll type it all out.

Yes I am! Thanks Mike I appreciate any help because it's one reason I dread doing any changes to my phone very often as I run into this problem every time!

Yeah, I hear ya...whenever I would reboot for some reason (after a nandroid backup, wipe cache/dalvik etc), I would lose apps, widgets, contacts.
I finally figured it out. Now, this worked for me, hopefully it works for you.
Boot into recovery. (I use smelkus, but Amon Ra will work also)
1. Wipe cache and dalvik cache.
2. Fix uid mismatches (fix permissions)
3. Wipe cache and davik cache (yes, again)
4. Reboot.
It will take some time to reboot (like 4-5 minutes for me)..don't touch phone,
Let it do its thing, and wait 5 minutes after screen goes blank.
Wake up phone and all should be there.
Like I said, hopefully it works for you.:)

Thanks man! I may go ahead and try this before I head off to bed. OR, perhaps I should wait to do it in the morning...when I'm a bit more rested! Anyway, I will report back as to my results...:D

o.k. man, please do, the suspense it killing me. lol....
Go to bed, get a good sleep, think clearer in the morn. :D

Well sounds like i need to flash a stable version of a2sd. Anyone have a link to one? Thanks.

If I flash the latest stable dta2sd instead of beta04 it fixes the problem for me.
oooo... I understand your suggestion, but I am a little hesitant to do so, as ropodope is pretty adamant about what works with his rom and what doesn't.
Especially when it comes to dta2sd. (his comments over at xda suggest if you don't use what he and Jamie recommend, then you're on your own:p)
But I am willing to try, as I can always flash back correct?
And, if doing so in flashing a different version of dta2sd, will I need to run some commands to "activate" it? Or will it automatically do its thing?
Thanks Mizzou!

Got it...just post your results here to help others k?:)

Well, it seems to have worked! All my apps were readily available except my calender icon gave me the error message but I just slid it off to the great trash can in the sky and pulled another (same one) out of my Launcher drawer and it was fine. So, so far, so good! Thanks guys for helping out with this and hopefully it sheds some light on the subject for anyone else with this same problem.

Now...need to try to figure out what's going on with my very very very slooooowww 3G connection.... I started a thread yesterday, I think it was, about this. Maybe I can go resurrect it and see what kind of trouble I can get into :smokingsomb::D:smokingsomb::D

I really want to understand what's going on here!

I went to open Firefox browser this morning and got an error message that the application was not installed on my phone. So I tried to open Opera Mobile, same thing! I DID NOT MOVE them to any other location but for some reason they are getting moved!

Do I need to delete the OLD dta2sd beta file from my sd card? Could that be causing a conflict?

Help!

No, when you flash it in recovery it gets built into the ROM. The file on the SD card doesn't do anything.

Open up terminal emulator

type
su
a2sd repair

then
su
a2sd reinstall

What all do you have on the SD-EXT?
Dalvik?

If you're running reloaded and still seeing apps disappearing, be sure not to move dalvik to EXT. ropodope has said that it's not even necessary on gingerbread (and I agree) and it will cause issues like what you are seeing with dta2sd. the command is

su
a2sd cachesdreset

Back
Top Bottom
