Welcome to the new eBay. Well, it's been that way for a few years now. Their buyer-friendly policies have made the site "seller-surely."

Very nearly got burned in a similar transaction when selling a phone, haven't been back since. Their policies always side with the buyer even when the buyer tries to commit fraud. So be wary ....
 
I don't plan on any overages! Gonna use wi-fi mostly.

While the optimus V is still a good value, and the $25 plan is good (while it lasts), the Inspire is a better overall phone. How could I resist $19 for the phone. I'm on a family share plan anyways, will cost me the same $25.

Ah, if that's the case with wifi then ya it's a great deal. I'm not near a wifi all that often so a 2GB cap would go by in a week if even that for me.
 
Dang it! I feel really lucky that I was able to get it when it was $130. That was a true gift. I feel a bit guilty when I complain about the service, when I am being able to enjoy a great phone for such a great price and OFF a contract! (well it is really a contract if you realize you can only use it with Virgin, but still cheap! )

A $25/month contract would be AWESOME because it would basically guarantee no rate increase for a couple of years.

They have previously grandfathered people into the same plans when rates have increased on others plans like the mifi as long as you kept paying so I would expect them to do that here as well if they were to up the rates.

I am certain the cost will not stay at $199 since some form of competition will drive the price down. Sales will eventually taper off, someone will have a better phone, better plan, etc. Look at AT&T and the iPhone for $49.

However, who knows how long you will have to wait for that price drop to happen! So, yes, be glad you picked up your Optimus V before the price increase.
 
I was talking about the iPhone 3G which is still $49 with 2 yr contract. The point is it used to be a lot higher and has come down as it was replaced with new technology (iPhone 4) and competition (Verizon) was introduced.

These iphones that AT&T are offering are refurbished 8 Gig models that have long been discontinued ,and you have to sign a 2 year contract to get one.

In other words, bargain bin stuff.

VM may take a while to give us new phones but at least they are not refurb.

I only kick myself for not buying one when the $149 sales were in place. At the time I was all ga-ga for my iPad2. (Life as an Apple clone is not fun. Long lines, no product, hyped up delays, scalpers and then there are the overpriced accessories.)

I finally just went ahead and pulled the trigger on the $200 LG. I paid more than you guys but it makes a fun and more affordable way) to get into Android. I've been having fun playing with it over my home WiFi (3G is sporadic in my house). Got Amazon's Cloud Player working. And I'm learning the whole Android OS.

In a year's time I might consider joining a Verizon family plan with my sibs. For now VM is the most affordable smartphone plan out there.

Between the $25/mo phone plan and my VM MiFi from last year ($40/mo), I pay less than I would do as an individual plan with another carrier. Plus no extra taxes and fees I don't know about.
 
-I too noticed the price increase within days of receiving my Optimus V. Originally I seen it in stock at my local Radio Shack roughly a week or two before I went to purchase it. Cash in hand I found they were out of stock. They expected shipment a few days later but weren't sure it would be in. When I checked, not only had they not received any Optimus Vs they had a waiting list of a dozen people waiting for this phone. Only after filling out the necessary information to have it directly shipped did I find it in store at one of our local Target stores. It was not listed on Target's website as I was already looking for alternate places to purchase my phone. As I had already purchased the phone I was a bit disappointed since I still had to wait a few days for shipment. Soon after activating my phone I logged into my VM account to discover the price increase making me thankful I didn't wait any longer. ,,
 
I seen they at VN rose the price up to $199 so way now the price markup something differnt in the newer models then the ones out there. Seems kinda of odd with almost a $60 mark up on LG Optimus V

As others have pointed out, when you compare total cost of ownership over the course of the entire year for a Virgin phone Vs the competition, $60 more up front is nothing.

Very true,this was my reasoning last July to justify spending over 300 on the VM Blackberry curve, even though that phone was not worth 100 dollars,this phone is so much better and worth every penny spent.

The refurbished 8 GB iphones are $19 with 2 year contract. The $49 8 GB iPhone with 2 yr. contract is $49 and is a new phone. But the point is they used to be in the $100's and new technology and competition drove the price down. I would not want to buy any iPhone for many reasons, chief among them being the 2 yr. contract requirement.

Lets hope the extra 50.00 they make on the phone now will keep the 25.00 monthly rate last longer!
 
The disadvantage of a "prepaid-no-contract-phone" is there's no guarantee that the rate will stay that way.

If you haven't read about howVM did BroadBand2Go users, read up!
RAISED the price, and LOWERED the cap!

But its month to month, so you either eat it, or cancel it.

I just received my $160+ gift card from radio shack in the mail but now I cant even get the Optimus V. I literally called 18-20 radioshacks and no one has it. One guy even said they havent even got a shipment in about 3 weeks to a month. Idk if i should even wait for a miracle of price drop or settle with another phone. This whole phone outage is driving me insane!!!

I think that just applied to the USB users. I got the MiFi last August and I'm still under the original $40/mo unlimited data plan for that. They tell me if I reach 5GB they'll throttle my speed but I haven't gotten there yet. My speeds are rarely better than 800kbps anyway. I use my MiFi as a backup (and to give data to my iOS devices).

Virgin has been pretty good about grandfathering people in. I'm told if I switch my MiFi plan I'll lose the grandfathered rates, but I can handle it.
 
Got mine at Radio Shack for $149 after learning that all Target stores in Florida were out of them. Best Buy was out also, as was VM online. Over 10 years carrying a Blackberry, and now that I've defected, I'm loving this phone!
