Root Beats Audio for Optimus V!

Something I like to do is get discoveries on Android Central and spread them here to Android Forums, not for credit, but for the sole reason of spreading awesome word. And of course I ask for OP permission before doing so.

The original thread from Android Central can be found here:
[MOD] Beats Audio for LG Optimus - Android Forums at AndroidCentral.com
Just like ilikechicken123, the OP, said, credit goes to the devs of the app.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaanyway.

ilikechicken123 posted this app:

This app provides you with a zip that you flash in Recovery to give you... yes...
BEATS AUDIO ON YOUR PHONE!
Whooo! I have it on my Optimus V running BACKside IHO 0502 CM7.2.
So, as far as I know, it works on CM7. ilikechicken123 says it should work on ICS as well.
HOWEVER. THIS DOES BREAK DSP MANAGER.
BACKUP FIRST, AS ALWAYS. I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING BAD THAT HAPPENS AT ALL.
Here's what you do:
-Download the apk from the Play Store link
-Follow directions
-INSTALL FILE 0317. NOT 0501. 0501 DOESN'T WORK ON THE OPTIMUS V AS FAR AS I KNOW.
-Make sure the file is on the root of the SD
-Get into Recovery
-Wipe Dalvik Cache
-MAKE SURE SIGNATURE VERIFICATION IS DISABLED
-Install the BeatsAudio.zip
-Reboot
-Delete DSP Manager with any Root File Manager. (Optional, but it's useless to continue to have an app that does nothing but crash)
-Uninstall the apk that gave you this zip. (Optional. It takes up lots of memory and is basically useless after the flash is zipped.
-Enjoy Beats Audio!!
Again, give the credit to the devs of this app for this. Thanks to ilikechicken123 for posting this really useful app.
Now it's time for Mozart to blare on the speakers.:p;)

Just installed it, and I can definitely hear the difference.

I do notice that no EQ apps (or EQ in apps) work at all. Not too concerned, since it sounds pretty good already.

Hmm, even though I'm not a fan of beats anything, I will give this a shot, to see if its better than my EQ settings.

I personally think the pathetic speaker we have on the Optimus C,M,S,T,and V wont allow for enough of a difference in sound quality using the Beats Audio.

Try listening to something with the DSP manager then listen to the same thing with Beats Audio.

Exactly what I'm doing. First, I listened to my DSP custom settings on both speaker, and headphones, then I listened on default settings, and now I'm going to listen with Beats audio after I install it.

Well I am going to just assume that this is a total miss.
My phone has been sitting there for 35minutes(and counting) with a black screen. Followed instructions word for word.

You must of did something wrong, it worked fine for me..

Well it's still showing just a black screen, going to reboot to recovery, restore, and try again.

I'm also using BACKside as well. No problems, I followed the directions in the OP (due to how similar the phone is to mine, it should all work the same way :p)

EDIT: I never wiped dalvik cache...

I wiped dalvik cache.. Maybe that's what borged my phone the first time 'round? Gonna try again after it restores, this time without wiping.

well after trying again without wiping, i still got the black screen.. so i decided to do a 100% fresh, clean install of BACKside, and Beats audio, and it worked.(noticed that DSP kept force closing due to Beats Audio)
Although, I'm not satisfied with Beats Audio, i preferred my settings in DSP, I managed to achieve better sound quality than Beats Audio, and better bass quality. It's just a matter of self preference. Now if you were able to fine tune Beats Audio with DSP, then that would be awesome!!

Yea it says in OP it breaks DSP manager, I just removed DSP afterwards, I like the EQ from beats better, DSP couldn't give me what I wanted.

I wasn't too crazy about DSP either. Same with the other equalizers. The genre presets always sound awful, and many of the settings created a hollow sound. The EQ in Poweramp is an exception.

This Beats install seems to be merely a good sounding audio tweak, designed to replicate the original. As I said before, it doesn't play well with other EQ apps, but I really don't need an EQ anymore. DSP was pretty unstable anyways, so I just deleted it.

Yeah, I guess it is just a matter of preference. And I prefer this zip. Sorry to hear about the issues, nitestalkr.
But, I just watched the 2 hour Book of Mormon musical on Youtube with the speaker using this Beats Audio mod, and it was really great.
I'm a Mormon, and I loved it! :D

OK so now I guess i'm going to have to check out Beats Audio. If it's good enough for Encerspay it's got to be good.

Just note,

FLASHING THIS WILL GIVE SOME CHOPPY FEEDBACK IN SOUND

Meaning sometimes the song eill freeze and repeat a song.

You might have heard it, but nevrr noticed. Its a known problem with Beats for other phones.

Were you using headphones? And it happens depending on song.
