Ok so you know whenever you turn on your phone. and it boots up? Usually it says DROID!!!

Well mine goes BEEEP BEEEP BEEEP. I have changed the the notification to what I want and even put the file on the internal sd card.
What do I gotta do to stop da beepin beeps?!?

Actually, - he's not talking about notifications, he's talking about BOOT. There are no notifications until the OS gets booted first.

Maybe ... but I don't think so ... the link in his message describes the two sounds at the end of the process and not the sound as the boot is occurring.

Those two sounds are the SD Card Notifications and can be turned off.

When researching it for him I was driven by perhaps false memory. When the "eye" appears on my un-root-ed Bionic there is no sound. I seem to remember that it used to say "droid". I can find no way to turn that on or off. Perhaps I was mistaken and am remembering it from my Droid X that is root-ed.

I'm pretty sure that says when you boot up.

Whoops - this is my fault - I misread your instructions - I thought it said something else.

Now I know what you mean - the quintuple beep it makes when it mounts the SDCard after booting - already into the OS just after the SDCard icon disappears from the notification bar.

I suppose next time I'll first go see what you wrote and find it on my phone lol - that would have save a lot of posts in this thread...

Have to go horizontal soon ... first ice storm of the year expected in an hour or so ...

Was there ever a sound when the "eye" was displayed or was I remembering it wrong? If there is ... how do you turn it off or on in an un-root-ed Bionic? Move an accessible file?

It makes a sound, but it's only the mechanical noise of the arms coming out of the apparatus and then connecting and causing the orb to start spinning.

The DROID sound was on previous models (well, DROID, for sue, not sure about other Motorola models).

Thanks for the clarification ... I was going a little nuts trying to remember how I removed it from myun-root-ed Bionic. It was removing it from my root-d Droid X that I was remembering.

Lol - I'm the exact opposite. I like the sound. In fact, I use the DROID ring tone from my OG DROID on my BIONIC for all notifications except for ring tone (and the system set notification sounds, of course).

The one I copied from my OG DROID is a bit louder and clearer than the one that comes with the BIONIC...

BTW, if you have your phone ringer volume turned off, when you reboot, not only will the phone ringer remain muted, but the eye apparatus sound I described in my last post will also be muted.

Freaked me out when I booted my phone one day and it did not make a noise...I rebooted like 4 times before I figured out what the cause was lol....

Mine rings twice during boot. Once after the mechanical eye animation and sound come up, and then again after the lock screen appears while the SD card is loading. The ring sounds like a phone ringer from the mid 1980's. I don't have this ringtone available to me. I kind of like it and would like to set it as a notification tone or something, but can't find it.

Between that ring sound and the boot animation metallic sound, this is how I know my phone is self booting, as it does occasionally.

It is a notification you are requesting when an SD Card is loaded. It loads two cards and the notification is sent twice.

Go to ... Settings | Sound ... and ...
Un-check SD card notifications
