Help Before I buy a Nvidia Shield Tablet

I'm not up to speed with current Mobile tech, but have been told that the Shield with it's K1 processor is the best out there atm in terms of gaming/multimedia performance, which will be my primary usage.. is this right & are any of the recently released Chinese Tablets in the same ballpark (or better performers?)

Not sure about Chinese equivalents as I wouldn't buy one but yeah that's exactly the tab I'd buy for gaming. Was just looking at them myself, thinking about buying one for my son.

I was torn between the shield and nexus 9. Ultimately I settled on the nexus 9, for me personally, but if I were a hardcore gamer I'd probably have gone with the shield.

Personally I'd like to have both, but the ball and chain isn't having that.
