Root Best alternative Home Launcher For X8?

I tried ahome and didn't really like it so I was using ADW for a while which was quite good. But after the 2.1 update I got launcher pro which is great IMO.
 
So my ADW has been messing me around having problems with widgets so thought I would give Launcher Pro a go as I remember you guys all singing its praises. Just rebuilding my home screens to my liking and getting used to it. Couple of questions cos I can't figure out how to do it yet...

Can I change the icons in the dock bar like you can with ADW?

Is it worth paying for the full application? I am quite happy to pay if I think I am going to use the extras but wasn't sure how much added value they bring.

Should I uninstall ADW now or just leave it sitting there in case I decide to go back to it, not exactly short on internal memory but didn't know if it used RAM whilst I wasn't using it.

That's it for the time being! I shall carry on playing.
 
To change an icon you need to long-press the icon and you have the option to change the icon.
The full app allows you to change widget size add several LP widgets (People, Bookmarks, Calendar, Messaging, Twitter, Facebook and Friends).
And as for ADW you can keep it because if it's not running in the front or as a statusbar icon, it doesnt consume resources.

Darn it.... its always so easy when you know how :D

Didn't even think about long pressing, just been scanning through settings and dragging and dropping but only getting delete.

As for go I remember I dit try it out but didn't like it. Ehat are these features you're talking about?
 
Well, the one i like is the possibility to have as many screens as u want, not limited like with Launcher Pro or something...

App Drawer can have customized backgrounds unlike Launcher Pro and u can choose direction in which apps will scroll when u swipe, not just up/down, but left/right

Besides swiping left or right with screens, u have Swipe-Up or Down actions which u can set to your preference, like if u swipe up u can set it to run a specific task or app, your choice

And one more interesting feature is u can set a custom font :) Which is my favorite.

And its skinnable, so u can have custom themes for it :)

U can save/load your configuration of the launcher so u can just import it from sdcard if u re-flash your phone. No need to set everything manually again...

It has a recent tab which shows most recent apps u runned, and it also has a tab which shows current running apps, so u can manually kill any app that u don't want to be running.

Its a pretty much a good launcher, it works really fast, animations are smooth and if u like some of the above features, i'm sure u will be using this launcher :)
 
Ah yes ... I remeber it now. Thanks but I reall preffer LP because:
-don't need more than 3 screens because otherwise it would be the app drawer itself
-drawer direction up-down is perfect
-swipe up/down is the most annoyng thing - that's why I don't use ADW
-I LOVE the uninstall featuredirectly from screen (I know most launchers have it)
Can't think about anything else I would need from my launcher. :) And btw, GL isn't smooth at all. But maybe GL EX is.
 
I tried GL EX, and as Ryu explained, its features are pretty good and its smooth. However, after playing around with it for a couple minutes, i still went back to LPP. Talking about screens, LP has a max of 7 (will you need more than that?). Plus, there's a new update that gives different animation and transition effects to switching of homescreens (flip, scale, rotate, cube) and it's amazing!!!!!!!
