Best Battery Widget out there!

It's in the market. Search for "Battery Widget" and it will be like the fourth or fifth one there. It will be by "HTC Corporation". It's decent and simple, and has been my favorite for a while. I keep trying Battery Left, then going back to the regular HTC Battery Widget.

The only thing I don't like about the HTC widget is how small the icon is.

does it just show percent of battery or what? any other bells and whistles?

If you tap it, you get some other general info including temp. Like I said, it's simple and efficient. Battery left is pretty gaudy compared to it, both in looks and function. I wish Battery left's widget looked like the HTC one (except full size) and I'd probably be happy. I like how when it's charging the HTC widget is like a bottle of fluid boiling.

I've been using Gauge battery Widget...

Will try this one and see how it goes.. Dont know why you have to calibrate it. Havent had to for others

Because instead of just reading the system battery percentage, it tries to give you estimated time until it dies. It needs to calibrate itself to do that.

IMO yes, it can show you what apps are using gps, cpu, which ones are keeping your phone 'partially awake'
And plenty of other stuff, plus gives you an accurate estimation of when your battery will die via countdown right on the widget
just my $0.02

Maybe I will give it a shot. Not sure I want to bother however since I have the 2150 battery now though.

I use vizBattery widget. It shows battery in % the only thing I don't like about it is that is uses celsius for battery temperature. Anyone have an app that looks just like this but maybe shows more stats as to what is using your battery and displays temp in fahrenheit? Preferably a free widget..

What should the battery temperature be? Or what's ideal and at what temp should you worry about the battery overheating?

I wouldn't be concerned until it started getting around 130F. The battery is spec'd for up to 60C (140F) so anything below is within design limits.

The app for me keeps getting off, by quite a bit. I am using the 1x1 widget and it shows the battery being much lower than the system says. When I select the widget there is a 12% difference between the app and the system number.

I have recalibrated 4 times. Does using the phone while plugged in affect anything? What's up?

I have the same issue with Battery Left but mine is about 25% off. I have recalibrated several times, let the battery drain etc and its still off.

When you guys give percentage off, you are comparing to what? If it is off compared to what the phone is saying, that is on purpose. The whole point of the app is to offer a more intelligent reading of battery percentage as well as time left based on how you actually use your phone and how the battery actually tends to drain at what the phone considers various percentage levels (I know there might be a better way to say this, I hope you understand what I'm saying). If the app is that much off when the phone actually bottoms out then it is going to be attributable to either 1) The program is not calculating correctly, or 2) You are using your phone in VERY different amounts from one day to the other and the program is having trouble getting a good AVERAGE reading.

I am comparing the stats to the phone and to have battery time lite which I also have isntalled. I dont use the phone that differently day to day to have such drastic differences. Mine started to happen after I drained the battery and recharged it. After that, it seems off. If I recalibrate then it seems more accurate until I charge the battery again. When charging, I use the HTC charger that came with the phone so I dont think its how I'm charging the phone

I am comparing what the app says is the estimated percentage and the system percentage.

I get that the app is supposed to provide a more accurate estimate, but when the app says my battery "should" be dead in 3 hours and it lasts more like 7 hours, something isn't right. Basically, the app estimates will quickly go down and get way ahead of the system percentage, and then slow down drastically (staying on a percentage for a really long time) while the system estimate "catches up."

I am not using the phone any differently from one day to the next, other than occasionally using it while it is attached to usb and is charging.

Something isn't calculating properly, and I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app hoping to fix it.

On this point, the Battery Left widget is not necessarily supposed to be on target with the system percentage, although I must admit that mine is not off by very much most of time.

Granted, that would seem to indicate something is not right. The only time I have a situation similar to this is when I have used the phone a good deal more on a previous charge and the battery left widget seems to be expecting me to do it again.

It works good for me but perhaps there is something else involved that we are not seeing. I would encourage you to report your stats to the dev. I know he is working really hard to make this a top notch tool. Also, there is a "send data" button on menu in the app for reporting stats that seem to be way off base.

Battery time lite just reports what the system says. The whole point of the Battery Left has to do with the fact that sometimes the system percentage does not accurately reflect how much battery you have left in terms of time because the system reports the battery to drain faster at certain levels than at others. Also Battery left is designed to not just tell what the percentage of voltage is left but also to give some idea of how much time you should have left based on how you have drained the phone in the past, but the program may just be off for you. I would encourage you to use the "send data" function in the menu to report stats where you see the program to be really off what it should be.

If I am off base on my analysis of how the program is designed to work.. those in the know please pipe up and correct me, all knowledgeable help is appreciated.

Thanks dscribe...I just noticed that I had it set for estimated battery % but when I changed it to system battery % it was more in-line with what i would expect the level to be at. I would have thought the 2 would be about the same.

When you change it to system battery % it should just report whatever the system is saying. If you have it on estimated battery % then it is following it's own independent calculations. I've seen the two close at times and not at others.

I found that i got too ocd about what % it said. (when i had it showing system% AND when i had it showing estimated%) Taking neco's advice i took percentage off the widget display completely. Now it just shows time till dead. If I barely use phone it will sit at the 24 to 28 hour range all day. If i start to use phone alot the time dead meter goes down faster. It might say 23 hours left, I'll stream live baseball game for 30 mins or so and time dead meter will go down 2 or 3 hours.

And if that is your normal behaviour, over time it will take this all into account and give you a really accurate time.

exactly, its a smart widget that learns your habits. the one thing to focus on is the time left mostly. Percentages dont really report it near as well

It's worth it just for the info it provides.

If you are using it just for the info, anycut is much more lightweigt and if you go to activities, testing, and create that shortcut it puts you in the same battery info screens that spare parts and batteryleft do. I never found a battery widget that was terribly accurate and all use additional power, maybe not much but they do. Some even keep the phone awake. Just thought I'd mention anycut since its free in market, and sounds like some use batteryleft just for the info screen.
