Best Browser (your browser choice)

Previously Chrome was my choice, but have been getting flickering while browsing these forums. Chrome was a stock loaded browser, alongside Browser on my phone.

Now FireFox is (was) my choice, it's tabbed, safe, fast and you can view a page while it loads without being kicked back to the top like Chrome did.

Sort of glad Chrome was flickering, cause this Firefox version seems pretty shmicko :thumb:

Edit1:
Thanks to funkylogik, I'm now using CM Browser instead of Firefox. Firefox was showing numerous posts on this forum with stupidly small text. The options are so vast, I guess there really is no "best browser" and it's all up to personal use and opinion.
Edit2: After testing for flash support (I know its old fashioned, but some sites still call for it) and speed on my slower Huawei G510 (DCore 1.2GHz/512MB/4.1.1JB), I've jumped ship to Boat Browser. Even though it has an ad on exit, this seems to be most suitable to me. Might buy the full version upon further use/testing.

So what you using and why (if ya got a reason)?

I'm going to start a quick list of browsers so far mentioned here, sorted smallest to largest:
* These browsers listed, the links and tests are of the Free variety
* Download size (my device) doesn't demonstrate the browsers performance.
* Flash (FV) test: https://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ (Archived Flash Player versions)
* Ext.Vid (EV) test: news.com.au (does the browser support notifying of 3rd party video service requirement, such as Hook?)
* Fast Exit (FE) test: Does it allow fast exit from menu?
* Performance (PR) test: How does it perform on slow phone? Good, OK or Bad

I still love dolphin for its slick scrolling, text wrapping and Flash on kitkat but I like this new browser https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ksmobile.cb for its built in video player and download manager

I've looked at that KS Mobile browser. So you would recommend that browser? I mean, it comes from somewhat of a respected/trusted publisher, but they don't have the roots like Mozilla. I'll have to give it a go.

I used to use Dolphin, until it started to get too heavy and I found Chrome to be lighter... maybe that's changed again

When was the last time you used dolphin? I find it pretty snappy and I use the Jetpack plugin.
Yeah I'd recommend having CM in your collection if only for its download manager, its great for downloading big files over an unreliable connection.
They claim it's also really secure but that's not something I really worry about. They have a g+ community and they're updating regularly.
It's video player is really good. It has gestures like MX Player and BS Player have

Yeah, It's been awhile since I used Dolphin. Really, I actually probably switched to Chrome cause it was Google and found it to be good enough to replace Dolphin... back then

I actually haven't tried chrome in a long time. I used to find it really slow.
Might give it another chance now that I have a tablet. Would be nice to have tabs syncd between my tab and phone (I don't use a pc)

I seem to use different browsers for different purposes at the moment. Not sure why.

NB Pro, Boat and Opera (full, not mini) are the most used. Opera for emergency access to my work email (seems to work best with that), NBPro for quick browsing, and the " floating Boat" is nice for following a link from Tapatalk.

I found that Chrome didn't have any advantages to me (speed or features) so removed it together with the HTC browser (which was Chrome based anyway as far as I could tell).

Have FF installed, but don't use it much. Maybe I should give another try (the desktop version has improved recently).

I've just installed this and I like what I see so far. :)

Previously used Chrome & Xscope.

It has a nice fresh layout. It doesn't have text wrapping though which I seem to need less and less as sites get mobile friendly but sometimes I miss it and when I asked one of the devs he didn't seem too interested in adding it.
Another thing is when you hit the share button, the Browser Switch app isn't an option.
And there's a bug in the search/address bar, you have to hit space twice to get a space but that should be fixed by the next build

And they've just fixed both my bugs after reporting them last night!
I have the apk if you want it El Presidente

I remember using UC a while back, and Boat but I can't remember what they were like or why I ditched them lol. They've probably evolved a bit by now.
Does UC have full screen mode? That's essential in a browser to me :)

Well I've now tried CM Browser, and I'm posting this using Firefox. Yes, CM Browser does seem worthy, but for me on this cheapo phone, gives the same kick to top of page when it fully loads.

But this is on a phone where the default loaded Google Keyboard keeps crapping out and I have to hold down to select to get it to reload. So I don't know. Is it just me.

If you're not short of storage (it's an amazing 1.5mb lol!!) It's worth keeping for the Downloader imo.
What user agent are you noticing the jump to top thing with? I'm trying to recreate it

I use Boat for sites I log into because I use the password manager add-on that is secured with a password. I use Firefox for most everything else except reading reviews on Amazon because it shreds the page when scrolling on that site.

On Chrome it was default user agent. In CM Browser I can't seem to find user agent option. Probably just this slow phone.

I'm still using the default browser! Are there any distinct advantages that the big name ones, such as Chrome and Firefox, have over the standard browser?

The latest version maybe hasn't hit Play yet mate I downloaded the apk directly

Yeah, I've got the 5.0.4 which I think is the latest. One thing I've now realised with Firefox, about half the posts in this thread are shown with stupidly small text. Ditching the ability with Firefox to view a bit of a page while it loads for CM Browser. Thanks for the recommendation. It's light and ties in with CM Security, Battery Doctor and Clean Master which I have installed.

Edit: I wanted to set this as default browser. Found the option in settings constantly said it failed to apply the default setting and to try again. Was about to download some others apps in attempt to fix the problem, but I tested by clicking an add in an app and CM Browser loaded :)

Don't know about Chrome, but Firefox, Boat, and Dolphin all have exit options in the menu to cleanly exit your browser without having to back arrow all the way out.

I'm still not ready to have a default browser lol
