It does not matter what you do with the gift card, you can return it and you can use it. You preorder will still be there, unless you walk in the store and tell them you would like to cancel your preorder. Gift card in no way is linked to your preorder. They take your money and give you a gift card.

You dont have to have the receipt to get the preorder. You just need your id and phone number you reserved it under I believe.

I saw it much more simple than that. I took it to mean that they HAD to crop it to protect the source. It might have had a name or email address on it...

"There is a lot of excitement about the first Verizon LTE device, the HTC ThunderBolt. HTC and Verizon will officially and publicly announce the Thunderbolt launch dates soon. Please stay tuned for the debut of this great new device."

I know this doesn't get us a date, but it sounds promising to me!

I know we are all tired of the word "soon" but I take this as a step in the right direction. It is an actual public statement made by one of the parties involved. Looking good for the 17th in my opinion.
 
Wel Ben5 just said over on ac that the 17th is still on track which if its still on track then it is the date. They would have to be shipping them out either Friday or Saturday so that stores have them on Monday or Tuesday. And I wonder if bb will have it on the 16th or something since htc said "dates" in there post
 
Just to point another thing out if they have enough in stock for'pre'orders they really don't check id when I went to grab my xoom they didnt even look at my I'd or receipt
