Best Buy Details

-----------------------------
From AndroidCentral this morning. Same guy who posted that pick of the Tbolt at the conference and said $249.99 and March 3rd/4th.

I'm thinking it still might be the 28th for BestBuy with all their exclusiveness.

This guy may be 100% correct, but I'm done with rumors and guessing. It will be released sooner or later and if VZW/HTC is in troubleshooting mode then nobody really knows when it will come out. Everyone can guess on the timeline for fixing software/network, but you never really know until your regression testing is complete.

I've got my pre-order in at the Shakopee, MN store, Minneapolis area, AKA best buy headquarters and major 4g area. If there is different dates, I would hope my area would be first then, lol.

Nice lol

I have three large areas in my area that are covered so I should be good as well - West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale and Miami.

I know nothing of these so called "Warehouses"

I am not picking on you. Just do not understand how there can not be one or many. Best Buy is a huge Corp.

When a delivery comes I am sure it is a Best Buy truck? This truck that delivers to you can not possibly go to all the manufactures and or distributors and pick products up then go to all the individual BBY's.

They obviously do not meet with all the manufactures or distributors at a truck stop/parking lot and distribute the products to all the best buy trucks, which then bring to you.

Logistically speaking I am 100% positive there are at least 20-30 distribution centers around the US.

This is how it happens, using HTC and SONY as an example.

They are shipped to the US to HTC and SONY Distributor.
The HTC and SONY distributor then distribute their products to where all the orders from stores come from either being SEARS, BEST BUY, MIEJERS, KMART etc. All of these places have warehouse's where they then distribute the products to their individual stores. If mom and pop it is delivered directly to the store.

I am a 100% certain that HTC and SONY to not make individual deliveries to millions of stores.

There is absolutely no way BB does this without distribution facilities. When BB in your city runs out of a certain product, they do no cal the manufacture directly, hence the reason for a HTC rep.

Ok can we please put these Skype / Netflix rumors to rest? Skype was suppose to be on the phone at launch and integrated into Sense UI. However Skype did not have the app ready by the time the TB was done, so if they are going to integrate it into Sense it will have to be done via an OTA update.

Skype announced that the Android app would be available on the Market by Feb. 28th, when that happens all Android phones (probably using 2.0 or later) will be able to have Skype. The TB will be able to use Skype, I don't understand where people are getting that the TB wont get Skype at all.

As for Netflix, the app isn't even coming out for a couple months. All we know about the app is that it will require the processor on the phone to have certain DRM keys to allow the app to run. The TB's 2nd gen Snapdragon has been verified as being one of the processors that has these keys. So the TB will be able to run the Netflix app.

I'm not sure why the Netflix thing is such a big deal with people right now as it was never even hinted at as a feature on this phone.

FWIW I went in to my local VZW corp store last night to look at the XOOM. The woman I talked with was in her 20s and see,ed pretty darn knowledgeable when it comes to Android -- said she'd been an Android user for 2 years. When I asked about rooting and the CM mods she knew all about them.

Anyway, I also asked her about the Thunderbolt. She got quite excited and said she checks on it every day. The talk around that store, she said, was that something delayed the original availability and that they thought Verizon was delaying it so as not to confuse their customers. Said that they've been getting a lot of people in who don't understand the difference between iPhone and Android (mostly they're non-smartphone users) and between iPad and XOOM and they're spending a lot of their time explaining the differences, pros, cons, etc. So their general opinion in the store is that they're delaying for another week or two.

Makes sense to me. I listened to some conversations in the store and was amazed at how clueless the majority of the people are when it comes to this stuff. "Email? Why email on my phone?", "Can I buy something on iTunes and run it (or listen to it) on Android?" ... that kinda stuff.

Take it for what it's worth.

so, the Droid Incredible S, which debuted at MWC is going on sale today:
HTC Incredible S Goes On Sale Early | GottaBeMobile

The HTC Thunderbolt, which was first revealed last August, then officially announced at CES, then was supposedley shipped the week of MWC, is no where to be found.

Yeah, gotta wonder how other htc similar smartphones, like the Inspire 4G and Incredible S, can have such smooth sailing from announcement to launch. The only thing I would differ with is the writer was hoping that the ease of this release would motivate BB to stop pushing back the date. I think we all agree that it is Verizon with the lack of motivation here, follow-through, willingness to share info., or whatever we would like to theorize. Maybe their most curious decision is just leaving this big blank for all of us to fill in and not seeming to care if what goes in that blank is unflattering. If they can't adjust their date any sooner, I'd at least like to see them adjust their attitude about it all!

They are confusing literally everyone. People who want are confused about when they can get it and if they even care anymore and people who don't know will want an eta just so they can check it out more before buying. I don't see how that is good marketing. The best way for people to be informed on the phone is to get it out there and create more word of mouth among people that arent like us. We've talked the damn thing to death. People who do't know about it have just seen some guy jumping around on rooftops. That tells them nothing about the phone.

Best Buy does have warehouses, but for normal stuff, not cell phones

So how do the phones come? You mentioned you would have to "check the truck" or that stuff is off loaded from a truck. I presume this truck is a BB truck?

If so, they are coming from a BB distribution center.

The Incredible S is a gsm 3G phone going to a 3G gsm network in Europe.
Not a flagship phone going to a new type of network.

I'm just waiting for this forum to completely go crazy the minute something concrete is announced, we've all been waiting for so long and we are all done with rumors or speculation....

BTW I am just fascinated by this whole shipping thing and how it is done. My buddy works for a logistics company. Not poking fun, just seriosuly want to know how they do this.

For example, are they sitting somewhere unsealed waiting for the final flash by VZW? Or are they sealed and ready to go. With all this Skype talk, I am interested.

I agree, I'm interested as well. :)

It would be cool to find out where in the whole scheme of things these phones physically are right now, wouldn't it?
