I called the main number listed on BB's site - 1-888-237-8289. The first time I called, I was transfered to someone who identified herself as Geek Squad, and when I pressed to talk to someone higher, she said it was ok, she was authorized to note on my account that they would extend the Buy Back program.

This afternoon when I called them back, same number, I went through two "mobile" people first (one of whom was rather overwhelmed, as she was a repair person, lol). I asked to speak to corporate a few times, and was told corporate is closed on Saturdays, which is how I ended up with Customer Relations.

Even though the GM at my store was hard-lined no, the Customer Relations was happy to go around him to keep a customer happy. :) I'd encourage you to give them a call.
 
Just called the number on the receipt and talked to bb mobile. She was horrified. Tried to connect me to customer relations but the we're closed. Will call back tomorrow. Thanks!

Interesting that that would show up in the chat window, seems to me he started to record the convo to show to management

I would probably use a different tactic in the future if you plan on doing this again, the "my Thunderbolt is broke, can you help me" method is going to be a dead give away now if they start to circulate this info as a info mining scheme.

Me: Hey, are you getting the Thunderbolt in?
Him: whats that?
Me: um... the new phone from HTC?
Him: Never heard of it.
Me: uhh, okay thanks...

What is this world coming to?

I'm not thrilled about having to wait for the gift card in the mail, since if *knock on wood* it is released on Monday, I'll have to wait - but $70 is $70! After how long we've waited already, a little longer shouldn't kill me (at least I hope not...:rolleyes:).
 
I would still get it if it came out tomorrow just to test it out myself. At this point, it would be worth the restocking fee after being so excited about it. :D

seriously though; as much as i want to believe it is true, i just can't at this point. there are far too many "a vzw/bb rep told me i could pick the phone on the XX" stories out there to put much faith in any of them. i honestly feel like even if we DID get a true leak on the release date at this point, we wouldn't recognize it. everyone is too skeptical from being burned over the last two weeks. :o

Most times UPS/FedEX delivers anything to retailers is usually around Noon or later, and thats not always guaranteed either

setting yourself up for disappointment. I changed my mindset to thinking that the Thunderbolt doesn't even exist so that I am not disappointed :p

And on that note, BB gurus, if I did purchase from there, does it change anything on my plan? Is going through BB anything like the other third-party retailers where you have to live and die by their rules? Also, I have a few promotions on my account. Would those be changed?
 
So a VZW rep just called me (about my early upgrade) she said she would call me when it was out to take my order and that she would give me 50 dollar credit on my bill to order from them (I told her I had to get through best buy because of my 250 dollar gift card.) Then I asked about a release date. she said she was very confident it was this week. but you know its whatever.....


This was the highest tier in service as well..

I live my life all the time that way, and it makes it ALOT worse, believe me,
if you think that way it leads to more disappointment than it does when you think the other way.

regardless of what some of the members here say, i'm still holding out, and when the ThunderBolt comes out and its not what the rumors were all saying, i'll laugh at all of you unfaithful members when you jump to an iPhone or another device are stuck with it for either 1 or 2 years.

Newer technology is NOT always better (ie: dual core and faster processors) The ThunderBolt has the specs to carry its own weight and more, it may be a myth now, but March is coming fast.

I plan to get both the ThunderBolt and Incredible 2 since i have two lines and both have upgrades coming, my one line became eligible as of today :D (original Droid Incredible launch day 1 yr contract upgrade)

I still have the theory that with all the factors that were involved they had also decided to make sure the original Droid Incredible owners would get the chance to upgrade, and then let a new generation of customers get the Incredible 2, since we all know Verizon doesn't take too kindly to sequel devices (as evident with Droid 2/Global/R2-D2)

He know's about it, he gets asked about it many times a day! I own an authorised Verizon dealer, and can't wait to get them so we can just sell them instead of trying to answer 50,000 questions a day.

I don't want the buy back program just the gift card.:D I can get much more on Ebay. But the fact that BB would not give me the buy back pissed me off.:mad: Thanks again for the motivation.
