No. If supply was tight and the pre-order line was long, they might not be able to confirm availability for everyone on the list. The fact the email reads as "we will have a phone for you" makes me think BB has been told their shipment is released or soon to be released and they know how many units they will have.

Whatever the reason, I think it is good news.
I'm wondering if I should go preorder now.
Scratch that, I dont know which store I will be buying from until I know the date. Heck, I don't even know if I will be buying from BB or VZW yet. Depends on whether they charge tax on the retail price or the sale price.

What's the typical turn around time from "beginning orders" to a customer holding the order in hand?

Unless the order is held (I doubt it at this point, it's usually only held for constrained stock) It means it's 1-2 deliveries out usually.

I'm also on the fence with this, although hoping there is a 1-yr and leaning toward VZ and some tax free shopping in another state.
Got my email about an hour ago. So I think this is a very good sign that BB might have the phone coming thursday. I was the one to reserve the phone on the first day. So I think people that were first to reserve are the ones probably getting the email. Depending on how many phones that particular store will get.
Looking good guys. Best Buy must have some solid info since they are finally sending out the email.
I would say if not the 17th then BB might cover preorders on the 21st a few days before verizon

I just got my email too.
Except, mine said: "Due to your V.I.P. status with Best Buy, to include your membership in the Best Buy for Business program, we will contact you 2 days before the Thunderbolt is available for our regular customers."
