If you can't make the appointment time, as long as you have one for the day, you could just call them and say you are coming in early. Typically they can accomodate (sp) you to fit you in. It really depends on the time you come and how busy we are. For example, on EVO launch day we have a few people come in before their appointments, but we had our EVO appointments and people who just walked in to take care of too, so the wait was a pretty long.
The process itself (with an alternate upgrade) does not take very long, I was referring to us just being busy and getting to you. People that there on their appointment time are priority usually, from what I have been told. (this makes sense, because why make an appointment if you have to wait? Might as well be at the dentist office..lol)
Well, if you have an appointment, we sit down with you, run the activation through our system (make sure to let them know you are doing an alternate upgrade of course), and then activate the phone. We don't have to do anything more than that, but typically we like to spend time after showing you some tips and how to use the new features of your phone. But, since you are on the forums, I am guessing you can handle it all quite well
For me, at least, being a phone nerd, I always want to spend some time telling them how awesome their phone is and how they can make the most out of it!
