Best Buy Mobile employee here! Feel free to ask me questions :)

Since I was #1 to preorder at my store should I give additional phone numbers so I don't miss the call to set up my appointment first (10:00am)?

It never hurts :)

The first one should be fine, but I have had people give us 2 numbers, so if the first one doesn't go through for whatever reason, we call the other one.

hey there best buy mobile rep! any knowledge of stock on the multimedia cradle at launch? thanks!

Not yet. We carried the Droid dock at launch, so I cant imagine we won't, but stranger things have happened.

Not saying your wrong but I highly doubt that will be the case. Like someone else said the Incredible with a one year contract was 269.00, so I expect something along the same lines for this phone. I would say no more than 320.00 off contract if I had to guess.

maybe thats the price at the Verizon store, but I'm telling you what Best Buy's 1yr prices NORMALLY are. I honestly haven't done that many and that is the reason, the price is always to high. Everyone I've ever done has been $200 more than the 2yr price. I'm pretty sure I know what I've sold before. Of course we don't have mail in rebates. I'm going to check today to see if there is a price up yet, but I doubt it. For all I know, Best Buy gets more money in the end for doing 2yr contracts which is why they make the 1yr price more.

Visited my local BB and was informed that they were no longer accepting pre-orders. They had approx. 40 up to that morning when the SKU for that was removed from their system and they couldn't order it anymore. )He also took the pre-order sign down)

I was also told that Verizon was discontinuing the Incredible due to screen issues (not supply) and BB was no longer selling it. Makes absolutely no sense to me and I haven't seen anything about it anywhere. Comments?

I read the other day the Incredible is not dead, it is just replacing the screen they currently use with a different one just so they can get the phone out there.

We actually just started getting the Droid incredible with the new boxes. So maybe that's what the employee was talking about

From what I've seen, the price is 200 dollars cheaper than the retail price through best buy. Our prices are going to be different than Verizon's, the reason for this, I don't know, but I know two year contracts are the standard and we don't usually have a lot of answers for the 1 year ones. This is more of an effect of consumers reactions to 1 year pricing, same with retail pricing.

hey well ny one can answeer this. i am getting a new phone and i can't choose. i am deciding between HTC droid incredible or Motorola droid x? can you guys help and give me info on which i should choose? please help!

Hey Aookay,

Thanks for taking the time and giving your passion to this thread! It has been very helpful to all of us. Just curious, which do you work at? (If you are allowed to say)

Question about the X's car mount, do you know if it will come with a car charger? Perhaps BB employees can get the early scoop on accessories too? It would be so useless if it didn't have a power cable... but that's the way we do American Business ;)

Too bad everyone giving reviews about Droid X accessories NEVER show that cables come with it.

I think these forums will provide a great answer to that, but to be honest its going to be a decision you have to make. There is a perfect phone for everyone :) the interface and the design are probably going to be the deciding factors though.

I was wondering myself if I should say that, since I direct a lot of my customers to this site..let's just say, the clues at there.

I work in California somewhere. Hopefully some where near the treasure hunt location :)

Yes, it should. The Droid one did and I don't see them changing it unless they drop the price. We usually do, but the scoop has not been given yet. I will update you guys when it is :)

Hey Aookay - I'm going to be returning my Evo when the X comes out (I will have had it for 3 weeks on the 15th). My question is whether simply returning it to BB also cancels the Sprint contract, or if I will have to call Sprint to cancel in addition to returning the phone?

Thanks!

Simply returning it does not. In fact, I would advise to return it and have the mobile person cancel the Sprint contract while you are there. They have to make a note on the account letting them know you returned the device.

Hope that helps :)

Thanks! That's brings me to another question. If I buy the X from Best Buy also (assuming they come through on the pre-order), would I just bring in the box, charger etc that came with the evo and explain that I want to port my number from the evo to the X and then return the evo and cancel the contract?

I guess what I am asking is whether they will make a stink about the Evo not being in the box and such (since I will have been using it the past 3 weeks). Or should I make it two transactions - go in and buy the X, port # etc and then go home and factory reset evo and then box it up and return it? Or does it not matter? Sorry, I just don't like returning things :)

Yes, bring everything that came with the phone. The receipt would be awesome too :)

I would bring the evo, factory restored in the box, port the number over and start the new service, then do a return exchange for the X. If you are cancelling the service with sprint, you have to bring the phone in, or else they will charge you for the price of the phone on your Sprint bill. So bringing it back later would not be the best way to do it.

So yeah, box it up, restore it, port your number over from sprint, then do a return exchange for the X. Make sure you tell all these details to your Mobile guy, so he/she knows exactly what to do from the get go :)

Just to let you guys know, the Droid X does not show up in our system yet, so the 1yr price isn't up yet. I just checked and its not there yet in RSS either

It's different for each person. There are really nice benefits to it (the good maintenance reward, the battery replacement, if we don't carry the phone and it breaks, you get a new one) but there are some down sides ( doesn't cover lost or stolen...but that's what mobile defense is for ;) ).

What maintenance can be done at BB? Are there technicians on site to do the work or do they need to be sent off? Unfortunately, this will result in not having a phone for a week or 2.

Can a BB bought phone be taken to Verizon for manufacturer warranty issues, like the battery, etc.? Thanks!

Yep, second this. I tried looking up with my RSS knowledge, and was unable to spot it.

We can only do soft diagnostics at BB, we don't have technicians on site (our geek squad agents don't repair phones in house). All phones that have problems need to be sent out, including ones covered under our Black Tie Protection Plan.

Though, we can test the battery there :)

Yes, if you buy a phone from Best Buy you can take it to verizon for Manufacturers issues.

The one year extensions I believe we can do, I know we can do them for sprint, but verizon is a different beast. I'll have to check into this one. I'll get back to you :)

we don't have the product in our inventory system yet, so no details on our full price will be. 599.99 Seems to be the norm though.

1 year extensions we can do at Best Buy. It just costs more the for phone. Found this out for you today :)

I will check into this tomorrow for you. I'm actually off today, but I wish I was at work ;)

The answer to this would be yes as well.

Had to cancel my preorder, because I was going to do an annual upgrade on my main line then do alternate upgrade to my line and they insisted annual upgrades couldn't be done through Bestbuy mobile.

Just out of curiosity, Aookay at your location would you be able to do annual upgrade+alternate upgrade easily for verizon? They took over half an hour, the worker asked the other coworkers, the manager, called verizon, called the verizon/bestbuy rep for the area and even though it was confirmed the line was eligible for annual upgrade she said it could not be done unless it shows up in the computer, which she said annual upgrades do not. I'm not too upset about canceling my pre-order, the only reason I did it was verizon didn't have a pre-order but gonna stick with what works (ordering directly) from now on.
