Help Best E-Mail App

I have two hotmail accounts I use often for ebay, etc. and K-9 seems to get errors often with free email services...or at least hotmail.

Is there a better one for homtail than the stock app, or should i try Touchdown?

Those of you with Hotmail...wait until later this summer. They are supposedly making major changes, one of which being the ability to sync mobile devices thru Activesync. This means you can setup your hotmail as an exchange account and use stock app or Touchdown or whatever supports exchange.

I switched to K-9 about two weeks ago, and noticed I was getting frustrated with some of the nuances in using it. So I went to the market and found MailDroid and absolutely love it. I wish it had more customizations and less ads, but it works much smoother than K-9 in my opinion and lets me us one email application for all of my email addresses.

Thanks for the suggestions of K-9! Is anyone using K-9 with gmail? ... I'm trying to figure out if there is an archive option anywhere. I like the app but if I can't archive so that it will stay archived in the web version as well, I'll have to go back to the gmail app.

I have not tried this but are you connecting to Gmail with POP or IMAP? I'm guessing to get the archive feature you'll have to use IMAP (as archive is prob. a folder under the sheets).

For everyone using K-9, are you having issues with Push (IDLE) not working? It will work for a couple days and then quit pushing email unexpectedly. I'm running 2.708

The thing is, that I am not a Gmail user. I use my college e-mail as my main. Would K-9 or Touchdown still work for me?

Most university email services fully support IMAP so yes K-9 and Touchdown would work. Check your school's IT website for IMAP settings.

I'm on 2.710 with no issues.

I have a gmail account and use both the gmail app and K-9. I find that K-9 seems to work better in terms of getting e-mails quicker, but I like the interface for the gmail app better. K-9 seems to have some bugs such as when you scroll, the screen turns black and when you open up a message where there is a picture that takes up more of the screen, it doesn't pan across very well. Eventually it does, but if you go just a little too far, it goes to a previous message. Also, it doesn't seem to allow for archiving.
