It can be horizontal

The front is just a tackie car pad (sits on the dash and things don't slide off it)

Just glued 2 old "what are those floppy things called again" together

Here's my mess of a dock. Put it together tonight just for this contest (although I've already got a commuter case). LOL. And I must say I quite enjoy my phone not sitting flat on my desk. I made if from some of the mesh that came from the bay covers on my computer. The foam that went behind those covers. Some cardboard from the box my eris came in. Some screws and 2 twist ties. lol.

Here's the "cupdock". It currently consists of one styrofoam cup, one leftover laptop PCMCIA slot cover, a drinking straw, and scotch tape. The cable is mounted using enough tape that I can just put the phone on it. No need to plug it in manually.

Nice thread! Very cool ideas. Started playing around with dock ideas myself a while back and finally came with a good reproducible low cost design so I could make several as needed. Added decals to make it look cool.

Decided others might be interested, so made a 14 page PDF with complete photos, templates, and decals of how to make. Charging 3.95 for the plans since we put a lot of time into the design work. Takes about 30min to make your first one. 15-20 min once you get the hang of it. Details are on our site if anyone is interested.

And you failed to mention that you are selling the 14 page PDF...

Didn't mean anyone to think we weren't charging for it. We put quite a few hours into, so thought others might think it is worth a couple bucks. Changed the post to reflect that.

Here's my version,, Being a carpenter I made it out wood scrapes I had laying around the shop (Walnut to be exact). This was a test run for size and fit. wil make the final version with a few adjustments and all finished up nice. Works good picking it up as a unit to text and set it back down.

Edit: Noticed someone already answered my question.

Anyway, I liked the bent CD idea enough to try it out. Works great! Thanks. Haha

Awesome :D I really like the way it holds the phone, super easy design and you can add decals or a quick shot of spray paint to make it exciting.....

Here's my final version, I was so inspired I made extras as gifts (were a half driod half BB family). I do like the floppy disk one (have quite a collection of 5 1/4's) just have a better collection of real tools.

LOVE the design, but is it stable? Kinda looks like the Eris might be able to slip to the right/left and possibly fall out of the cradle. Maybe a cross beam with chiseled out box just big enough for the charger would be more stable...although it might detract from the overall look a bit

I just used the Droid Eris box. I put the cable through the hole on the side of the box and used the thin cardboard to lift the Eris up.
