Accessories Best Incredible [Full] Screen Protector

Wow, that makes sense

I should find one that best suits my needs. And having not tried a particular product, there's no reason for me to ask what other's experience has been? Because of course, here on this earth, there is no need to learn from others?

I guess this whole idea of discussion forums is useless. :(

You are hear by banned from the Internets for trying to use common sense and logic. sorry.

I have read quite a bit about screen protectors in this community.. and I had ordered the steinheil one from amazon a few days ago.. but I happened to go to the mall and I was getting the screen protector and silicone skin from one of those cell phone accessory carts.. and I really wanted to protect my screen even until I got the steinheil in mail.. so I bought this and the packaging said.. "finger print resistant, scratch resistant.. etc...
It fit pretty well and unlike the finger print resistant ones.. it did not diminish the display quality.. it was surprisingly clear and the sensitivity of the screen saw no impact.

I wanted to see if it indeed was scratch resistant.. and so I took out a sharp object and scratched right in the middle of the screen. I made a pretty decent size scratch.. and to my dismay... firstly I was ABLE to scratch it.. and secondly.. it looked ugly.

I tried rubbing all ways and the scratch wouldn't go.. and I kept kicking myself for doing it.. but I still had my steinheil coming in mail..

lo and behold.. after a few hours the scratch "magically" disappeared!! I couldn't believe it!... the application of the screen protector is without any liquid.. exactly like the steinheil..(static adhesion).

I have canceled my steinheil order.. I am sticking with this one.. I scanned the barcode and it's available on daydeal.com for about 8 bucks.

Again, I scratched it pretty good and after a few hours it's gone.

I got the Clarivue mirror protector, few issues. First it only came with one, this was mentioned on their site but I didn't notice and assumed it would come with two like most protectors. No biggie though. Second, a topcoat started peeling off when I put some tape on to pull it off so I could clean it. I taped off the rest and pulled off all of the top coating but still pretty irritating. The U-shape at the bottom has been mentioned. However customer service did offer to send a replacement clear protector for 3 bucks. For that price I think I will run this one into the ground and try a different brand. However, the mirror protector does look pretty badass.

Has anyone used the screen protector from seidio? I am thinking about getting the innocase II and though I might as well get the protectors from them as well. Any thoughts?

I tried to install a zagg the day I got my DINC. Got a piece of lint under it and messed it up trying to remove it. So I just ordered the Boxwave based on the praise from GrandMasterB. Better be good GMB! ;)

Very interested to keep hearing people's opinions on different protectors, and/or tips for getting specific ones applied right.

From what I can tell Boxwave (which I use) is the best anti-fingerprint, anti-glare screen protector. Others seem to blur text or warp images, but it doesn't. However, you do get somewhat of a "speckling" when on an all white screen and you can definitely tell it is on the phone.

I had an issue with getting lint/dust under the screen protector or getting air bubbles out. During removal I accidently bent part of the plastic permanently (it was a pain to get off). When I put the next one on, I got it perfect except one spot with something under it (it seems impossible to put this on without attracting any dust/lint) but I guess I will live with it as it took be a good 4 or 5 tries to get it to that point!

Verizon must make the best screen protectors money can buy because after about 7 weeks, it's still in perfect condition for me with zero scratches unlike all these third party products that all eventually get scratched up (according to popular opinion on here). I wouldn't even consider aftermarket if they had bothered to make the thing full frontal instead of just the size of the screen. I could probably live with it, protection-wise, but I'm getting pretty darn tired of the "speed bump" every time I try to pull down the notification bar. All the info is appreciated, but it still seems to be a process of trial and error. I might just take a shot at the $8 one listed a few posts back.

after messing up 2 installs on the crystal clear i went to best buy and purchased the zagg and also had best buy install it for 7.00. perfect.:)

This is a very interesting thread to me. I have the phantomskinz now and it's got a few marks on it, so thinking of trying something else. I have a feeling whatever screen protector I get, it will get marks on it.

it is "clear" why the Stein is 1/3 the cost of the Boxwave's.

Boxwave Crystal Clear resists scratches really really well. I have used alot of different protectors and for a hard static protector it holds up really well. My past Verizon, WriteShields, WriteGaurds etc all have scratched really easy, within the first week. I had a BoxWave CC on my Motorola Droid and it was damn near scratch free when I sold it 7 months later. There were few light scratches but they hold up way better than any of the previous protectors I have used.

Nightfishing-- what did your BW do to your Swipe experience?

I got the steinheil crystal clear and love it, so far its been about a week with no scratches.

Now I'm just curious about the "wireless accessories" screen mentioned above! my incredible is useless outside especially living in sunny northern cali :(

I got my Boxwave crystal clear protector yesterday. Install was pretty easy and I used the tape method to remove a couple pieces of lint that got trapped along the edge. Obviously I haven't put it through it's paces so I can't comment on durability.

I can say, it looks near invisible. Screen looks no different then naked with the exception of a little less shine/gloss. It also feels really good, no stickiness at all. I'm very satisfied with this protector so far. If it holds up well, it's a 10/10.

Thanks to GrandmasterB for leading me to this purchase.

I found this rather amusing...I've noticed numerous posts about the 'orange peel' look from the Zagg Invisible Shields. A few minutes ago I went to their site to register for the ipad give away and noticed the ipod with an invisible shield on their home page. The orange peel look is quite obvious at the top of the device. See the attached picture for detail.

Interesting that they show that. I don't think its something they would want to showcase but the picture is true to life. Thanks for posting the picture.

My Verizon protector has been on from the first day the phone came out. The phone is carried in my front pocket all day. No bubbles, scratches, or peel offs. Seems to be a great product. I see absolutely no reason to change.

Just another observational post. Previously I just went naked on the screen, but felt that the DI was probably the most superior device I'd owned yet, so thought maybe I'd worry about it a little more. I used to use a screen protector on my Handspring Visor long ago so I wasn't unfamiliar with the process.

Anyhow, so I thought about it and chose the Steinheil Crystal Clear cover. Application was fairly easy though I blew the first one due to being out of practice with this kind of thing. Hardest thing I found was getting it lined up along the long side of the phone. With the way the coverings peel off, it's tempting to go short end to short end, but I noticed myself getting it crooked. The better application I unpeeled along the long side and tacked that down first and then went across. Seems a little harder but I was pleased with the results.

Adhesion instructions are a little sketchy. I'm pretty sure I got it on the right way but they could have added a single line on one of their pull off labels that says "THIS IS THE TOP" and I would have been happier. However the basics are just the same as they were back in Palm Pilot days, slow application with thorough squeegeeing as you go makes all the difference.

Clarity seems excellent, I don't notice any problem at all with that. You can still get pixel blurring and magnification with finger oil the same way you can on glass but it wipes up just as easily too.

Tactile sensation / Smoothness : At first there was a bit of a rubbery feel to it. Actually there still is and I was wondering if there was something wrong with it. However I just started cleaning it with the cloth I use for my glasses and had also used for the glass screen prior to application. What I've found is that with rubbing it down through the usual method of cleaning it, the faintly tacky feel has disappeared. My best guess is there is just a faint trace of chemical from the manufacturing process still on the film immediately after application.

Bubbles / Adhesion : Currently near perfect, though I noticed others were saying the issues sometimes arrive after a week or so, so I suppose it may be too early to say. The only ones I have are around the button/trackpad and that was my own damn fault for getting a little hurried. Which brings me to my one criticism.

Die-cut on the Button/Trackpad : Seems a little inconsistent whether their die cut punctures all the way through the 3 protective layers. The first one I applied had a perfectly cut hole, but I blew the application as noted above. The second one had a poorly cut hole. I was able to get the cut-out removed, but in the process I believe I lightly distorted the film. Now there is just a hint of non-adhesion around that part. I don't blame Steinheil for that, but they could use better quality control on inspecting the films post die-cut.

Overall, generally very pleased. I will probably try them again in the future if/when I decide to replace the screen cover.
