Accessories Best Incredible [Full] Screen Protector

How did this go for you? I have one. I waited on installation because I was apprehensive after reading the instructions. I got a TON of air bubbles and dirt underneath. I tried putting it on 3 times, after I thought the initial installation was botched on my part (the first was probably my best attempt).. Some parts of it look really good and very invisible but the other parts...:( total fail on my end. At $10 (from Amazon) I might give in and give it another try..

And I thought mine zagg install was bad. Yes please redo or try another protector. That brand isn't working out for you to well.

I got my Phantom Skinz in the mail. They are very comparable to boxwave which I have used plenty of times. Perfect fit too.

I put my Phantom Skinz protector on last night. You can barely tell that there is anything on the phone by looking. It says to let dry for 2-4 hours, but I let mine dry overnight. What did you think about the water? I was a little nervous about using the tool to remove the water bubbles under the Skinz and a small amount of water going into my optical track pad and speaker. Hopefully I have no issues after powering on.

Are there any options for a clear protector with anti-fingerprint?
I think the anti-glare is too opaque and makes the screen lose some of it's incredibleness...

Typically, anti-glare = anti-fingerprint. I've never seen any that aren't.

I installed my Zagg screen last night. Let it sit overnight and I'm very impressed with the results. Very clear, the feel is a bit grippy vs bare screen but that was to be expected. I can still slide my finger across the screen without issue. The "orange peel" effect is not an issue IMO.

I got a Zagg from BB as well. This is my first smartphone and I have never used a screen protector for anything so I am not brand loyal or anything, but the Zagg was the only full body protector currently available in my area. I have had experience with window tint before and the process for installing this protector is very similar. My first attempt I didn't get it aligned quite right but decided to let it go and reinstall it later. I noticed after reinstalling it there was less orange peel than in my first install (which had minimal orange peel to begin with). As far as being cloudy I can't really tell the difference. To me that seems to be about the same as the capacitive dots people were seeing. I could see them as well, but only with the phone off, holding it at a certain angle near a desk lamp. It does have more grip than without a screen protector, but it hasn't hampered anything I have needed to do with it.
Will I try a Steinhill when they come out? I haven't decided yet, it sounds like people swear by them, but if the cost isn't too bad I might. Just my $.02.:)

Update on my Zagg install. The protector itself is great however the Black silicone case I have (bought at Verizon store) seems to be pushing at the sides of the protector and it's actually lifting it up a bit. This could be a problem. I love this case though but I may have to find an alternative if it continues.

Clarivue, Boxwave and Steinheil are all statically applied.

Was this changed just recently? The boxwaves (Crystal Clear) I've installed before was NOT statically applied. I had to spray some water on it. I just installed one on my Wife's Palm Pre and it is impossible to know it's there.

Not sure if it was changed recently but it's applied like any other static "adhesive" protector.

I received my Phantomskinz (screen only) yesterday and it is AWESOME.

The installation is a bit tricky if it's your first time like it was for me. I ended up using too much Johnson's Baby Wash and there were a lot of bubbles underneath the screen. I also messed up the first film by letting it fall out of my hands and onto a dirty spot on my table.

Luckily for me, there were two... The second I took a LOT of care putting it on correctly and spent probably 20-30 minutes re-trying until I got it just right.

Tip: It helps to let the water sit before you work with it so you don't get any micro bubbles that are so common with faucets.

Oh, and NO orange peel whatsoever! You can tell that there is a screen on since it's not AS smooth as the glass, but it's still ridiculously smooth. And it's not sticky at all, I would even say it's less sticky than the glass screen itself and it makes it easier to use apps like Swype IMO.

I paid $8 for two skins with s/h included and I couldn't be happier.

I have the same setup as you, and i actually had the Zagg rep (Mall Kiosk) install the Invisible Shield for me. I went to put the case on immediately after and it lifted up the Shield as you described. I showed the dude and he told me that i need to wait at LEAST 24 hours before i put the case on to give it time to cure.

Well, as impatient as i am, i did not wait 24 hours (only about 5 hours), and was very careful when putting the case on, making sure not to push up the edges. I was fairly successful at doing this, leaving one corner with a little bit of push back on the Shield.

After a few days, i've had to fight with that one corner a bit, using my fingernail to set it back down, but i think i'm going to be fighting this battle indefinitely. Not a huge problem for me, but it is a bit annoying.

Now, if the shield was put on perfectly straight (which it pretty much was by the ZAgg dude) then the Silicone case will actually come up RIGHT against every corner, and will not overlap. So, the only solution would be to either:

1. Get a new Screen Protector - The Invisible Shield is prone to lifting at the edges/corner and this cannot be helped, even if the case was not flush against it. I doublt you will find success with any of the rubbery type screen protectors (like Zagg), so you may want to try the Steinheil protector when it comes out.

2. Find a case that overlaps the edges a bit more so as to keep the Shield in place. Not sure if there is or ever will be one, but is the only other solution to avoid lifting.

For me, i'll deal with this setup for now until it gets annoying. Using a plastic Orange Peeler seems to work to get the corners to set down nicely without ruining the shield/case for now.

I'd like to get the Steinheil AF shield when it comes out, but like one poster mentioned above, it does detract from the clarity of the screen...

I'll post the uninspiring pics of it..

Hmmm that sucks. I just got mine last night and haven't installed it yet.

I was actually planning on doing this tonight. I'm a little scared after seeing your results.

My plan was to totally wipe down the screen with these anti-static wipes I have and then take the phone into the bathroom with the shower running.

I think the bubbles you have are supposed to go away but if there is dirt in there you are out of luck.

I'll let you know how mine goes.

As someone who also applied a Phantomskinz yesterday, I can say that I had NO issues with powering on the phone about 4-5 hours after putting on the skin. While removing excess water and trying to place the skin on perfectly, I got plenty of water on the trackpad and on top of the speaker.

I decided to wait a little longer than the 2-3 hours that it said to wait, and it seems that 4-5 was fine. I shook my phone around before turning it back on to make sure no water droplets could be felt hitting my hands.

If you think about what these phones are designed for (being able to use in the rain), they do have some limited water protection as long as you don't dunk it in.

Oh, and I also kept a towel underneath the phone while I worked so all the excess water wouldn't puddle underneath the phone in the batter compartment.

I wonder how the Phantom Skinz compares to the Steinheil Crystal. I'd rather go for the Steinheil since its easier to apply, but if the Phantom is alot better, I'd be willing to go through the install process. How is it with picking up finger prints and smudges?

I have a Power Support anti-glare on my iPod Touch that has been on for 3 years (or whenever the Touch came out). It's awesome, has no scratches, resists figerprinting, and hasn't lifted. The Boxwave antiglare looks like it might be the same material. Can anyone comment on a screen protector like the PowerSupport one? That's what I'd like to buy.

I had the ZAGG on my Blackberry Storm and I just applied the Phantom Skinz to my Incredible and it has now been over 24 hours.

I like the feel of the Phantom much better than the ZAGG. I am noticing that there is a "oily" look (meaning that rainbow type of streaking that you can see quite clearly) - almost the same look as when your phone is covered in fingerprints and needs to be wiped down, but this is under the protector (and yes, it was perfectly clean before I started). I thought it would go away over time, maybe it has not "cured" enough, but it is still there. Also, when the screen is off, I notice a very odd look - almost like miniature bubbles - under the protector that are not visible when the screen is on.

My Phantom has a little of the orange peel effect, but not nearly as bad as the ZAGG did. Also, the one spot that the ZAGG did not cover on my phone is exactly where it hit the ground one time and left a nice little dent in the phone - everywhere else was protected. Didn't take long for the smaller parts (had the full shield) on the ZAGG to start coming off, and after having it about 9 months everything bu the battery door and the screen had come off due to dust and pocket lint getting up under the places that just wouldn't stick. Just my $.02 :) Will try Steinheil if they ever get them made - can't be that difficult especially since other manufacturers are knocking these things out...

I have a Phantom Skin on my Incredible right now and it's very, very clear, and I don't think you could tell it was there unless you were looking for it. Very slick, only a tiny bit more drag than bare glass, but definitely worth it for the scratch protection.

I don't have a rainbow effect on mine, but I have had them on Zaggs in the past and they have gone away after about a week.

without flash:

(there's a reflection in the bottom, that's not part of the skin)

Also, this was a spare TP2 skin that I put on my Incredible, so it doesn't cover it completely and is a little bit too wide.

Is it kind of blurry looking when you use it? We put the Steinheil one on my wife's Eris and it kills my eyes trying to look at it. I would love to put one on my Incredible, but I am afraid that it will look just like my wife's phone...:(

It didn't pick up any finger prints or smudges for me.

The install is nothing too difficult, it's just a bit frustrating if you are somewhat of a perfectionist. You will have to try several times (a dozen or more) if you REALLY want to get it just right.

The PowerSupport one on my iPod does give a slight haze to the screen (since the finish is matte), but it does reduce glare. Sort of a trade off. Compared to crystal, you lose some visual "pop", however, the anti-fingerprint almost outweighs the slight loss pic quality.
