Best Music/Media Player App

Anybody knows an app for listening/viewing/reading medias from a NAS ?

I m using DS Audio for the music but i don t find anything else.

RockPlayer 1.5 supports network playback, it doesn't provide a UI to browse remote files but integrated with browser, if your NAS provides http access, you may easily take advantage of it, have a try.

Good suggestions!

I found PowerAMP too combersome on smaller screens. VLC may be worth a look once it comes out.

Will have to try out RockPlayer.

Hi all,

new to android, new to forums... o2 Ireland samsung galaxy s upgraded to 2.2 last night using Samsung Kies Software.

I got streaming working after many trials....

What works perfect is.....
Installed gmote server and my pc and installing both vplayer and gmote on my samsung galaxy S and I am now watching avi, divx and mkvs on the phone in great quality.

I do have a 300mb wireless N network though :)

The best music player hands down is PowerAmp. Remarkable widget and precision EQ controls. Test it out and let me know if u think the same. I managed to get the hacked free pro version, from a kool friend of mine...and it's the only one I ever use

The default music player keeps overriding my audio books on BLUE TOOTH in my car. I would like to make my Audio book player my default player, as I use it much more. I can "kill" the music player and start AUDIBLE.COM and the music usually tries to override. HELP! and thanks

Hey guys, first I want to admit that I'm a "newb" to all the transfer & de-coding, etc of video files to play on mobile phones but I got the Sams. Epic 4g for purpose of seeing movies among other things. I had no idea of how complex it could be to see a movie I downloaded. By the way, I'm doing all downloads thru phone cause my computer was destroyed. I thought I just download flics and "Boom", I watch them! I downloaded several flics and I was able too see most thru the built-in player, which is pretty good. For the ones that didn't play, I read posts in several forums and made a list of the "Media/Video players" most liked with best features: vPlayer, ArcMedia, Rock Player, Wuzhenhua 4.1, Mix Zing, mPlayer. Of course there were other mentions but to a Newb like me these seemed like top ones. Since I wanted the easiest way to view flics and they all had plusses and minusses, I just got them all! Whenever I download a flic and press "open", a list comes up saying "open with what?" and showing all my players. I then choose the one that plays the movie and that plays it best! All done thru phone; no computer! So far, 99% of my flics work! Try it! Can't wait for mobile versions of "VLC & Core" players!

So far I have found Rock Player to be pretty damn good for my videos, so far it has played whatever I have thrown at it.

And for music I am currently flicking between DoubleTwist and 3, just seeing which one I like best.

vPlayer is easily the best video player out there right now.

No longer a free app, it stops working after 7 days unless you buy it.

Also upnplay is a brilliant free app to stream media from a media server. It doesn't have a player, it just streams content to what player you want on your phone. Works very easily.

Wherever in which device or system, I like the origianl media player most, if it can not replay one video, I will use a video converter to convert it and then replay it.

Hi

I am a newbie.

My old Sony phones w300i, Jalou etc you were able create and SAVE playlists for Music

I have an X10 mini that does not grant me this privilege

What Android media player should I look to get?

Thanks

N

I'm using Winamp right now and really like it. The stock music player isn't bad either (on 2.2 Froyo) - I haven't tried any others. I've always liked Winamp on my computer and really like the Shoutcast radio. I listen to music when I'm working so its essential for me to have a good music player :)

I've done some tests on it and have found it to use about 5x the processing power compared to Double Twist. On my Galaxy S it uses around 10% compared to 2%.

A deal-breaker for me is the absence of folder playback in music players (I can't bother to create playlists).
So far, 3 best players I like are PowerAMP, MortPlayer and MixZing.

Best player is still "PlayerPro" by Tristan for me. I love the fact it handles artist pictures/genre illustrations, lyrics and a variety of skins (more than 10 I think).
Recently the DEV added a sleep timer, which is sweet (no other player has it). I can now listen to my music while falling a sleep :P.

PowerAMP now has a sleep timer

I'm not a music fanatic. Just curious, why don't the artists make one giant continuous song instead of relying on gapless playback?

For those times when you wanna hear a random song in the middle of an album, so you're not forced to buy full albums, playlists...

Simple question with hopefully a simple answer. What's the best media-player to use on an Android? Currently I'm using the stock media-player that comes with the mytouch4g.

It...doesn't really have a fancy name, it's simply called "Media Room". Free would be preferred since the one I'm running is decent at best but if something that's meant to be paid for REALLY blows the rest out of the water and goes for a moderate price I'll definitely go with that.

Thanks!
