Root Best ROM for Moment?

You have to look at what each one includes and removes and base it on what you would use. I like the Ultimate Dream right now but prior to that I was using Joey's kernal. I also plan to try out titanium next. Radiactive Froyo 1.6.5 also has a lot of good reviews combined with meat kernel 2.0

i used the ROM kitchen at SDX. got pretty blue colors, a kernal with tether (n00bnl's) a recovery program (forcytos) the n1 launcher, pick and choose what stock apps to keep (i use sprintnav and the email client) as well as boot logo and boot animations. i tried mighty dream, radioactive froyo, titanium and i didnt notice a difference and i like the all in one ability to do it once and be done instead of having to flash zip after zip to change color, animations etc.

Just to give you some other feedback. I am currently on Radiactive Froyo 1.8.6 and using launcher pro plus. It all really works well together and battery life is equal if not slightly better than Ultimate Dream 3.0 was. Not sure but I will try this for a little longer and I may not try Titanum X if this continues to run smoothly. What did you decide on cold?

has to be built into the app that it can be stored on SD. most as of now cant. with the rollout of 2.2 this will be a more prominent feature in the coming months.

I just installed Radioactive FroYo 1.8.7 today. I have to say, it has really breathed some new life into this phone for me. I went from linpack scores of ~3 to linpack scores of ~9, due to the JIT engine. The phone feels much faster and more responsive.
I tested out the WiFi tethering feature this morning too, and it worked great.
I have been planning to upgrade to an Epic as soon as it comes out, but now, I'm thinking I may be able to hold off until the holiday season and see what other new handsets come out (with Android 3.0).

I just rooted and installed the Interceptor Final rom and run Launcher Pro home replacment on top of it. It runs incredibly smooth, has much better battery perofrmance, improved GPS, live wallpapers, a nice UI (even though I replaced with Launche Pro) and other bells and whistles. I highly reccomend it.
Only issue I've seen with it, is it strips out the stock email app, however there is a way to add it back in.

I'm also running Interceptor Final and Launcher Pro and it's great. I just took the final zip and stuffed in all of the apps he took out that I wanted (voicemail, email, wifi tether and a few others) and flashed the whole thing at one time. All of the files that were removed are either available in some of his older roms or as a direct download from the forums.

How does the interceptor ROM compare "head to head" with Radioactive FroYo (1.8.7)?
I've been pretty happy with 1.8.7, but I'm still having mediocre GPS performance and occasional CDMA lockups.
Does the interceptor ROM still have issues with CDMA lockup (I assume it does)?
How about WiFi tethering? Is that included in the ROM out of the box like it is with Radioactive FroYo, or will it have to be added in manually?

i have been runnig AMstel 2.0 for the last 3 days and is the best one i have used so far. i still cant get more than 8 or 9 hours out of my phone no matter what ROM i use but Amstel is FASSSSTTT and looks nice. have had one reboot issue in the first 30 mins of having it, not one since. no cdma locks and no gps issues....
I still get the occaisional lockup and the problem with the GPS is a hardware issue so it won't be fixed by any rom, but it can be broken completely by some of them. Wifi tether was included on some of the older versions, but you have to add it back in on the final. It works fine though once you do.

Amstel 2.0 is pretty good for me so far. pretty solid and stable.

Are you flashing the stock rom with root first before you try these roms or are you just applying them in recovery?
You have to reflash stock with root and let it synch completely to your gmail before applying the new roms in recovery. If you're having trouble, try flashing stock with root then doing a factory reset, then synching it completely, and then finally applying the new rom zip in recovery. Some say to let it load then restart even then and do a dalvik clear in recovery before sitting down to enjoy the new rom...

I've played with many of the roms out there and most of noobnl's radioactive releases. Most of the pre made roms use the JIT, which inevitably brings some reboots to the party. Many of the roms are not much more than the creators choice of what default apps he/she prefers. Since none match my preferences exactly, I made a custom rom with the SDX rom builder, flashed the newest meatkernel over it (not included in the rom builder yet) and for good measure, noobnl's v5 lockup "fix". I'm not convinced that any software will fix the lockup issue, if your phone does it...it does it, but it's worth a try. No JIT (Samdroid) or openGL storm. So far my "rom" has proven relatively fast (I'm not a gamer)and stable (no reboots!) with good battery life. It may not be bleeding edge fast, but I'll trade the bleeding for stability every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
I still intend on trying out the various roms out there, but I'll return to my build when I need my phone to function.

I too am researching the FroYo roms to potentially update to a better version of Android. The battery on the stock 2.1 is killing me. Anyone have recommendations on the most stable combinations of Kernel & ROM that is the most stable, best battery life, which websites did they find them at, and what software is needed? Any responses would be appreciated.

i have heard claims of people getting 20+ hours on any number of kernals and ROMs. i myself have never gotten more than 10 or 12. MeatKernal is the most Stable IMO. and roms that run well with it are AMstel 2.0 and the Custom ROM builder over at SDX is a GREAT way to get exactly what you want out of a ROM as it lets you pick ALL your options.

On a side note, I'm still running Interceptor v7 with JIT enabled, and just added the ext file system mod and the phone is running so good I'm almost afraid to touch it. It's benching at over twice as fast as stock now in Quadrant. If you guys haven't tried ext yet it's worth it. I haven't had any issue at all and the phone is blazing. I average about 480 in Quadrant.
I have rooted Samsung moment with latest froyo like version 22 or something, and quite happy with it using the instruction below. It worked.

first of all.. there is NO true 2.2 rom. there are 2.1 that run with JIT compiler but no TRUE 2.2 as far as the kitchen, you can put anythign you want into it. once you load that custom it will take over your current rom with as many options you told it to. it is advised taht you flash back to origional root before overlaying kitchen roms over any other custom or vice versa.
i am running Amstel 2.0 which is basically radioactive froyo running over meatkernal. this is VERY stable and has given me decent battery.
one of the biggest killers of battery i have found is IM clients like Meebo (or even stock IM client) with that off i get over 24 hours. with IM signed in it cuts it in half (12 hr max life)

What is it mean when you say flash back to original root? Does it mean flashing the Moment with Samsung tools to gain the root access back, and put the phone back in the stock 2.1 which came with it right?
