Root Best usb Tethering App?

I love the Evo and I love being rooted though the mainreason I rooted was to get past the $30 fee from spint for the mobile hotspot. Since rooting I am quickly becoming a flashoholic, I like tinkering and trying new things.

Now I need to know the best usb tethering app. Since rooting I cannot wifi tether. Whenever you active the wifi hotspot 4G drops out and my 3G speeds are total crap, can't even connect to the internet with the laptop at 3G speeds, it constantly times out.

So are there any usb tethering apps that will not cuase the 4G to drop out if I am able to connect to 4G???

Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.

There isnt an app that tethers 4g. Thats something you have to live with. i suggest you use MikG with the hacked sprint hotspot.

you should be able to use 4g with the wireless tether app found here: http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...net-tethering-w-evo-4g-3g-wireless-wired.html. i have use the pre09 version on 4g with no issues.

now usb tethering i have not tried yet, but it is found in the same thread.

onc, thankyou once again. I just loaded the pre9 version of wireless tether with the access control disabled and bamo 4G wireless tether, no freakin 30 buck charge. Nice!!!! Kept the access control disabled because when I enabled it connection dropped out even though it was enabled for my computer only.

Cool, Thanks again onc!!!

There most certainly is. I prefer EasyTether. I get 100% tower to device through speeds; the best I get using WiFi Tether is about 75%. Sprint had the EasyTether app pulled from the Android market, so a direct download is no longer possible. But side-loading is always a viable option.

Tm, Check your pm, Thanks. Have you also tried the pdanet app?

Thanks frenchy I have heard of the pdanet, but have been looking for the easy tether.

Frenchy, why do you prefer PDAnet??

Does anyon have the .apk?? I cannot get either one for it says it is not available on my carrier. ANy help would be greatly appreciated.

Been using wireless tether, it works ok, drops out a bit though. Just like trying all posibilities to see which is best. So again if anyone has the .apk for pdanet or easy tether I would like to try. I cannot download from appbrain or market for it goes to message "not allowed or available on carrier.

In the wireless tether's settings check to see what channel it's set on. If it's not set on channel 1, set it there. It's been known to help.

You can find the PDANet apk here.

You can find Easy Tether apk here.

Check your e-mail again. I sent the apk to you a few days ago but your ISP kicked it back. I renamed the file to ...jpg and re-sent it yesterday. I send apps this way and have yet to have one kicked back. I even sent it to myself and it worked just fine. Don't know what to say...

Hey Tom, Haven't seen it yet, I sent my other email, it might be better. I have had an issue not recieving my mail from mail.com so mu gmail is probably better.

Thanks Tom and frenchy for all the info. I am gonna try these out and see how they do. What ROMs are you running? I am thinking of trying the CM7, any issues with that one? Any suggests on other cool ROMs?

Whoops, my bad.
I had a typo in your e-mail address. You should have two copies of ET by the time you see this. One is the standard .apk format while the other is in .jpg format (just rename the latter to .apk).

I just finished tweaking CM7. It's pretty cool. Flashed it this morning. I'm playing with kernels now. I had been on Myn's 2.2 with the SBC/Nets kernel for almost a year. CM7 is way fast, seems stable on my phone, ran a quad of 1597 right out of the gate - stock. We'll see how the battery fares. Myn's on SBC is tough to beat.

I ran Classic for about a week, it was OK, a little upitty, pretty smooth. I ran MikG for a few days, if I hadn't f-ed up my nandroid I'd be back on that right now. Oh well, that's life. I guess I'' stick with CM7 for a while and let the kernels settle in. So far so good.
