Do you use auto focus? Try touching the area of the screen you want focused and hold until it takes the pic. At close range the camera gets confused. Check out my pics in the pics and video section. I took several from the same spot...but touch focused different points

yes i use spot focus with spot metering. Most of my other pics come out pretty amazing. Its just when i have to a foreground and back ground it tends ot focus on the back ground.

all my other settings are default. I guess it just doesnt have the same macro ish focusbility as a normal camera :(

Lol....I haven't had any real issues but also never expected macro capabilities. You could always get the magnetic macro lenses of ebay. I keep saying I am going to try that one and the fisheye

i already have one =D only problem is the macro with this lens is insane. You have to be insanely close for it to work. I Just need it to correctly focus where i touch. what is really annoying is that when i press the spot to focus it would focus on the spot for a quick second but then go out of focus again.

Yup...I have seen that before and can't remember what changed. I will look through my settings.

I think it was turn OFF autofocus and face detection

If I recall correctly....when you touch focus/manual auto focus will fight you at times
