Accessories BestBuy stocking up on HTC car mounts

Just bought one today. I'll let you know if I keep it.

Is it me or does the car app only display in portrait mode? I guess i'll be using another app.

You should be able to install the google one, the default is the HTC one. The Google one goes in landscape.

A good car mount shouldn't be cheap. 40 bucks sounds more realistic to me but I sure aint expecting much from a less than 20 dollar car mount.
By the way my cell phone bill is 200 a month, does that make me a baller? LOL

A $200 phone bill could make you a baller... or an idiot, depends on why its that high.

its made to fit a $500 phone with a top-tier data plan, its not exactly for the hard-up folks.

Are you too poor for a $60 accessory? If so maybe you should be on a pay as you go phone

I wasnt making the statement to say I am a baller, just that you should stop whining about the cost of an (fully featured) accessory when you are using a higher end product. Unfortunately its not working, you just want to twist it into making it look like I should be rocking a diamond grille.

You sure werent acting humble when you were talking about our $500 phones with top tier data plans.... "People who dont want to pay $60 for a window mount are poor"

We dont have some super expensive phone. We have a great phone, that costs.... the same as many other phones.

What's it called? i cant find it.
edit: nevermind, found it online. Seems like its been pulled from the market though.

They blocked it from us so you have to get the apk and install it using astro or something of the like.

Dude, seriously. If you are too put out for $60 for a powered car mount then deal. Get the cheap one. Im not your financial advisor. I could justify the cost, easily, so I got it. Didnt even need to smoke crack. I just dont want some cheap piece of plastic that is nothing more than a clip.

Jus to let you know i purchased a five dollar car mount for the evo. Yes five dollars. I didnt receive yet to give a tru review but heres the link if your interested

DealExtreme: $5.50 Plastic Car Swivel Mount Holder with Suction Cup for HTC EVO 4G - Black

what a steal! that one actually looks pretty decent. I already got the slim iphone one, otherwise id be all over this. im not in the car long enough to have to charge it all the time, nor do i always want cords dangling all over my dash. So i opted for a non powered one. I have a car charger for longer trips that will work just as well, not to mention car dock mode is a button press, no biggie. I am in no way cheap when it comes to electronics or accessories, non powered just made more since for my needs.

here is the one i got:

Amazon.com: Kensington Windshield /Vent Car Mount with Quick Release Cradle for iPhone/iPod Touch: Electronics

paid $16 bucks and recieved it in like 3 days. not to shabby

Only best buy would sell a 2 dollar piece of plastic for $60, and only people on this forum would justify spending that much based on what people paid for their phones.

And only someone who knows NOTHING about the mount would call it a $2 piece of plastic since its the cheapest suction cup mount that integrates charging and triggers car mode.

Dont go with the Evo Car mount from Deal Extreme..I finally went to use it for the first time and the peice of shit holder that holds the phone broke..The plastic must be very cheap and weak..save your money and get something better

Is this worth getting over the Seidio mount? I feel like the Seidio would be more useful because it's got a longer neck.

Very similar to the one on ebay for $5....but it doesn't work if there is a cover on the phone, nor if it has an extended battery.

so...here's the real question...the seido reportedly accommodates an extended battery. My friend just went and looked at the HTC dock and stated that it DOES NOT accommodate the sprint extended battery or any other ext battery for that matter.

is this true? are my only options going to be pro clip or seido?

The HTC dock doesnt accommodate anything but an Evo, they built it for their phone and not for the unlimited options of cases and batteries that people may put on it.

Have you tried the car dock with the HTC EXTENDED BATTERY AND BATTERY COVER?

it's the ONE and ONLY extended battery and cover that carry's the HTC name, sold at Sprint retailers.

That is what my question was ;)

a valid question..considering the HTC hdmi charging dock accommodates the HTC extended battery and cover just fine.

Sooo, where is this mistery HTC branded extended battery and cover? Or are you talking about the Sprint extended battery and cover kit. Methinks you are confused.

That HTC on the side is like Best Buy saying their own brand of battery works with HTC, not that its HTCs product:

If you want an argument bring it to pms. Your posts have no relevence to this thread or the question.

I will check out the hdmi dock on my own when we get back from camping :)
Thought maybe someone might have tried it

I've had my dock for a few weeks now, I loved it until recently...anyone else noticing its getting looser??? Theres much more side to side play in it now. It also no longer clicks when you rotate it to set it up. I wonder if HTC would replace it.....hmmmmmm

A. How are mine not relevant? You posted misinformation and I corrected it. HTC does not make an extended battery and cover and currently the mount fits the phone they sell.

B. What's to pm? I don't care about you, just that people aren't making things up.

I've noticed mine isn't as tight as originally but it was very tight. It hasn't been moving once mounted but mine doesn't make an audible click but I can feel it.

archercc, thank you for pointing out that this is a sprint accessory and not labeled HTC. silly me should have taken the battery out and looked at it. Being that we were out camping I didn't really have much for resources.

For all interested parties
After not receiving a response from anyone that owned both the sprint extended battery and the car dock I went by Best Buy when we got back in town today and tried it out. Unfortunately the fitment is just barely off. Though sprint did well in designing this battery and case to fit into stock shaped/accommodating charging docks/stations, they missed fitment into the dock by I'd say 1/8-1/4 of an inch. The phone fits well in the charging portion, but the battery just barely prevents the clip from holding the phone in place. I have seen several car docks that look like they may accommodate the sprint extended battery so I will check those out. The quality looked great...and I may still consider this option for the stock battery and cover set up.

I'm saddened only slightly. As mentioned in other threads I really would prefer to stick with the HTC (and Sprint for that matter) official accessories.

I see nothing wrong with a $60 car mount...especially if it's custom for your phone made by your phone's manufacturer. Third party can't charge this much usually as the consumer will likely just get the HTC brand.

There are of course exceptions...

I keep a Seidio Rugged case on my phone at all times, so such a mount would not be right for me. In fact, I have a GPS device by Garmin which has it's own mount, and I am quite happy with it. The only reason I would mount my phone is to access it better when streaming Pandora through the car using bluetooth.

In such a situation, power would be preferred...so I keep it charged with a car charger, and in the passenger seat beside me. If only I could mount it to the dash directly...
