R2 has released his ICS ROM (OMX), and hardware acceleration is now WORKING. There is a list of things that work and don't work on his page:

To follow development:
Follow the link in the first post to preludedrew's (evervolv roms) twitter account. ICS gapps link is posted in a couple of the posts within the thread. Do *NOT* post in the thread (on xda) unless you have developmental knowledge to add. Feel free to discuss your experience/screenshots/issues/fixes here.

Evervolv makes nice ROMs, but there hasn't been an update to their last ROM in ages (at least not the one posted on their website) so I got away from them. I'd love to see them come out with a usable ICS Rom because I am a big fan of their stuff.

I know everyone hates these questions but whatever..

Is there any timeline for when a real stable will be out?

Mouth is watering for some ICE CREAM SANDWICH!

[Also, people keep talking about "hardware acceleration", while I understand what those terms mean I don't understand how they can update our HARDWARE without opening up our phones... please explain?!? thanks!!]

Cyanogen will probably have a release out in January. R2 or evervolv may have something mostly usable before that, just like they did with gingerbread.

Hardware acceleration is a feature of the GPU (requires new drivers), it allows graphics to run smoother which is needed for the ICS launcher, if you read through the development thread (it's long, i know) they do discuss how they finally got it working.

Point is... they got it working on our phones, right?
However they managed to do it (probably way over my head) but glad they figured it out!

Thanks SDRAWCAB!

I'm excited about a CM ICS mod in 01/2012. As soon as it's stable, it's a tweakin I will go. Ho Ho Ho!

I flashed Decks alpha 8 (along with gapps and incredikernal) last night and had issues with calendar, keyboard dictionary, and no longer had root access. I found alpha 7 and flashed to fix all! Running ICS smooth currently and really liking the ROM. I finally got swype working by restoring the installer in TIBU so I most likely will stick with ICS for the time being. Can't wait for CM's version

On Alpha 8 you need to update your superuser binary in order for it to work. You have to flash it. Can't update it from application. Download latest from ROM Manager

Downloading now and flashing tonight. I'm looking forward to seeing how this runs on my Inc. I've never seen a rom that it couldn't handle, hopefully its smooth!

Has anyone tried backing up or restoring apps with titanium on this rom? Does root explorer work?

Just flashed one of my old Inc with ics-deck-inc [alpha2]... I don't have the cell network on it obviously since it is a back phone, but I do have wifi and it's pretty cool to see ICS on it and most everything working. Missing the camera, but have almost everything else I can think of. These devs are getting very close to getting us a daily runner for this phone...
