better to charge phone off/on

It's common knowledge that alcohol kills brain cells, but that doesn't make it true. Back in the early WinMo days, turn off to get updates was a line support used to get you to reboot often enough to mask problems caused by gradual memory leaks and heap fragmentation in the apps and OS. Unfortunately it was effective so folks bought it. At this point, even support folks might think it's true. Show me what in the GSM spec makes this possible and then I might believe it.

I noticed this too. With the concerns about screen burn-in found elsewhere in these forums, i'd definitely recommend charging with the phone ON (and screen off).

Sorry guys, didn't know if I should start a new thread but this follows in line with this one I guess.

When I recently tried to charge via a computer and my phone is setup via usb to do so, my phone would automatically turn on after a few mins say about 10-15 when charging while turned off of course. I'm charged to 40% currently but it hasn't turned on by itself for now.

Is this normal? Are their settings for the phone to do this or did I (do I) have a glitch in(on) my phone? I know HTC likes to incorporate little niceties with some features like vibrates upon connection when not pressed or held to your ear when calling.
Hasn't done it recently so was just wondering. :\

Of all the phones ive had since 1999 ive never turned it off to charge. Unless it was already dead haha
 
I agree with ^, the rate at which your battery charges has absolutely no effect on its performance. it just comes down to if you don't want to receive any notifications in the middle of the night or not and in some cases if you are afraid of screen-burn out issues.

Just a personal preferance i guess
