BIG! Maybe TOO BIG?

I'm past do for an upgrade. Just wondering form those who have had theirs for a while if they think the Nexus is to big (ergonomically speaking). I would need a small case (I work construction) and lots of times I carry my phone in pants/shirt pocket at work. The rest of the time on a clip holster.

I carry my phone in pocket everyday, sometimes with a smaller case on it as well. No issues for me, my wife has a little harder time fitting them in her pocket, but she wears tighter jeans. She cant really fit her galaxy s II in her pocket either comfortably.

This phone isn't really that big and is really thin. If you have used a 4.3 inch phone then this phone will really be no different.

I carry mine in shirt pocket most of the time, clip holster rest of the time. Size is just right, at least for me.

Also the rounded edges make it quite a bit more pocketable. Coming from a Droid2 I always knew when that was in my pocket. With my GNex, even though it's a LOT bigger, I am often patting my pocket making sure it's there because I hardly feel it.

Like CAMAN above, I find myself patting my pocket to make sure my phone is still there. Coming from a Droid X, the size is about the same but the Nexus is lighter and curvier. I wear loose fitting jeans and my pockets have plenty of room. I'm using the two piece Incipio case at the VZW store and don't feel like it adds enough bulk to be a problem, but it adds some much needed grip.

I got no issues carrying it in my pant's pocket. I also have the Otterbox Defender so it's a bit bigger but still fits in my pocket. The Defender does come with a belt clip if you want to use it. It's just a tad bigger then my DX with the Otterbox Commuter.

I really think it depends on several factors. I usually carry my phone in my pants pocket and dont have a problem most of the time, but sometimes its an issue. This morning i tried to sit down to put my shoes on and i couldnt do it without taking my phone out of the pocket, but i dont wear loose fitting pants... Also, my old phone fit perfectly in my shirt pockets, but now a good inch extends above the pocket, making it easier to fall out. So there are a few annoyances, but not enough to make me regret getting this phone.

I'm on and off of boats a lot, because of that I don't use a holster of any sort (had a phone 'jump' out of a holster once, and into the water - gone forever) The GNex fit just fine in my front jeans pocket,

this is my first smartphone ever. i had a crappy one before this. i think it is just right. it isnt very thick (which in my opinion is what makes a phone "to big") the screen is big but thats what i wanted. something that i can watch movies on play games and surf the web thats easy on the eyes.. i think it is a great phone

Don't know your phone history so this may be old news for you and I haven't had my Nexus long enough to get a good feel for it in the environment yet, but my Droid absolutely HATED being in my pants pockets at work. Too humid. The capacitive screen would freak out badly until it had an hour or so to dry out. It hasn't been hot out yet, but so far the Nexus seems more resistant to the pocket humidity.

Back pocket is generally out because of the potential for breakage when you bend over or crouch.

Front pocket was sketchy whenever I had to carry heavy stuff or lean against edges or railing.

Shirt pocket was subject to the above as well as falling out when bending over...unless buttoned

Belt holster was OK when I didn't have to crawl but always snagged on crap even when I wasn't.

Pliers pocket on a pair of carpenter pants was about the best I found for the Droid. Out of the way most times, reasonably dry, etc.

Grease, grit, dust, gloves, tools...etc...all enemies of the touch screen.

Frankly, if I still worked construction, I would have a mil-spec flipper like the a Casio G'zOne. Failing that, I would let the accessories drive the choice. A hard shell holster would be a must for me. The Old Moto StarTac was the best. When holstered, it fit close to the body and because of the hard plastic was scrape resistant. Damn, that was a good phone.

(I have a widely varied labor history. Electrical, HVAC, carpentry, machinist, mechanical...you get the idea... :) )

My Nexus feels so good in my hand that I don't ever think I could go back to a smaller screen. I wouldn't want it to be any larger but I sure don't want it to be any smaller either; as Goldilocks would say "it's just right".

Coming form the DINC1, I never got used to the Thunderbolt so I returned it for a DINC2. I LOVED the size and form of the DINC2. I reluctantly went to look at a GNex because of my past experience with a bigger phone and ..... I love it. It really isn't significantly bigger than a DINC2 with a 4" screen.

Otterbox Defender for me. Thank goodness the Nexus is so slim that the Otterbox isn't unwieldy -- flatter than a wallet, just an inch little longer. I carry it in my jeans pocket most of the time, or on the included holster when I'm at work.

I'd love to carry mine without a case, but I know that I'm going to have a drop here and there and I don't think this phone can survive what I've seen myself do in the past.

Thanks. I still have my old GzOne. I just don't use it anymore(can't see the screen in sunlight). I keep my BB Curve in a shirt pocket or in my lunch box if I am wearing tool belt(90%).
