Root Birdmans new rom flyX

This new release is running amazing. I update the v0.1 final over the RC1 without a wipe and then installed the build.prop from Rom Manager. No bugs that I've found so far.

The build.prop changes shouldn't make your phone boot to recovery at all...

I don't think its the build.prop that is doing it either...sorry I kinda grouped that in there with my comment. It has done it since I flashed the RC1 of FlyX. Everytime I do a reboot it wants to start in recovery.

If you download it (the build.prop file) from ROM Manager it will reboot your phone, move it over in recovery, then boot up.

Issue wasn't about the process of installing the new build.prop file... His post made it seem as though his phone was booting to recovery every time after installing the build.prop file :)

do you have bootstrap installed and rom manager? mines was doing that the other day until i noticed bootstrap didnt have superuser permissions. once i gave it that it stopped. and then i flashed clockwork in rom manager.

Been running the Final version all morning with the prop changes. Running fast and smooth for me. :)

One problem I do have, that I had on the previous version as well--that I think is occurring with CM6 as well, is some apps aren't showing in the market. Specifically Pure Calender Widget, and PayPal. Is there a fix for this, or is it a problem that needs to be fixed by the app devs?

Search for "history eraser" and see if it shows up.

Bingo! That was it..forgot to reinstall bootstrap. Installed allowed superuser and restarted without a hitch...I appreciate it

I don't understand why he would not include the build.prop that fixes the market issues, it doesn't make sense.

Ok, I have successfully installed flyx. I reinstalled titanium backup. I want to restore as much of my previous setup as possible. In titanium, should I do "restore missing apps with data", "restore missing apps + all system data" or "restore all apps with data". I would like as much back as possible, but I don't want to screw anything up either.

I used restore all apps with data and it worked fine.

I just installed to build.prop files that fixes the market issue from HERE and then just edited the setting according the THIS post.

Nope that doesn't show either.
They all show in the search results in AppBrain, but cant install from there either. =/

In your build.prop file, change the following:

ro.build.fingerprint=verizon/shadow_vzw/cdma_shadow/shadow:2.2/VZW/23.9:user/ota-rel-keys,release-keys

to

ro.build.fingerprint=verizon/voles/sholes/sholes:2.2/FRG01B/45394:user/release-keys

This should correct all Market searches for 2.2

I tried this - after restoring apps with TiBU LauncherPro would insta force-close repeatedly...Went back to my backup from today (which happens to be running great!)

Always select the "Problems" button the forst time you reinstall Tibku so that it downloads a version of Busybox it likes.

I like Mybackup but it takes so long to get started I just find myself using Tibk. It takes like 5 minutes to load the backup list and unzip it and like 10 seconds in TiBku. .

This is the biggest reason I might hold off on this for now. My current setup is running fine and I don't want to encounter a bunch of bugs when trying to switch over.

If you do you just restore with the nandroid backup you made just prior to flashing FlyX.

That's the whole point of nandroid backups. It gives you the freedom to test stuff out and then easily go back. It works so well you don't even have to restore widgets, even they come back up working.
