Root Birdmans new rom flyX

Is there a guide on how to install his ROM.

I have it downloaded to my PC but I am a little stuck on how to go about installing it.

My X is froyo'd, deodexed and rooted as well.

edit..Ah the wonders of google. My bad found instructions.

They are the same ones I found. His ROM is installing now!!

I can't wait.

I'm trying to learn as much as I can with android/root capabilities and I can not believe everything my X can do.

Edit..Got it installed and I didnt know about the boot animation. Pretty awesome.

Be sure to install the update which is listed as FINAL.

anybody else having issues with the AppBrain Fast web installer or chrome2phone? I cant seem to get either of them to work with FlyX

I did a restore from Titanium and Chrome2Phone didn't work for me at first either. I just did a reinstall of the C2P app and then it worked fine.

To get Chrome2Phone working again launch the app and Disconnect From Phone. Then start the app again and do the set up. That's it.
 
Question from someone new to Android, I love this forum and it has helped me learn all about Android quickly but I am still new to Rom's

What is the difference between Birdmman's FlyX and my currently Rooted,Deodexed,Froyo'd Rom? I have deleted my own specific apps regarding bloat ware, modified the Build.prop manually, and theme'd it with Nex Theme.

The only thing I see ( which i don't know what it is exactly ) is that he optomized the apk's Is this Rom just not as "stripped down" or modified because of the limitations of the droid x at the moment?
 
Has anyone noticed any battery differences switching to Fly X? Today it seems as if my battery life and just gone way down...

EDIT: NVM I noticed GPS was turned to on! DOH!
 
For those of us with FlyX installed you may have noticed that Maps has been removed. Obviously this is easily reinstallable via the market, however streetview will not work because Street.apk was also removed. For those of you interested in this feature, I have attached street.apk if you need it.

I still have all the above... I'm wondering if that has to do with the titanium backup restore I did.

Good catch! I hadn't even tried Street View since installing FlyX, but you're right, it said there was no application to open it. Works fine after installing the APK, so thanks!
 
Fly X is running so smooth and fast for me that I'm resisting the temptation to try P3Droid's Tranquility. Anyone else holding off?

Yeah, Tranquility is still in RC status and has a few bugs, so there's no reason for me to try it yet. I agree, though, FlyX is running great! I'll probably wait to see what birdman comes up with next (his version of vanilla).

FrankenFlyX is just Tranquility installed over top of FlyX? Or is the birdman coming up with a vanilla version of his own? I see he is asking for suggestions on Twitter about what to include/exclude, so I'm assuming his version is going to be even more stripped of Blur than Tranquility, right? :confused:

i believe birdman is making his own but he is just comparing it to P3.
 
I tried running flyx for a while. It may be just me, but my phone had ALOT of freezes with it. Music player would lock it up everytime. Screen scrolling wasn't as smooth as with the build.prop mods alone. Another funny thing I noticed. When I had the Eris with the black notification bar, all I wanted was a white bar. Now that the X has a white bar. I like the black bar thats themed in one of these build.props floating around. I guess you always want want you don't have! :D :o
