After upgrading my Nexus 4 to Android 4.3 the stock browser disappeared... Of course, there are several good browsers downloadable from Google Play but I just wonder if anyone else had this happening.

When I 1st got the N4 it had the 'no name' native Android browser installed. This browser disappeared after installing 4.3. I just found that curious. Meanwhile I use Chrome and it works just fine.By "stock browser" do you mean Chrome that came with the N4 or do you mean the unnamed browser that came with earlier versions of Android and often called "the stock browser" by users who install it by choice?
If the latter it's possible that some incompatibility exists preventing it from running, but I use Chrome so I can't really help in that case. Chrome works fine for me in 4.2 just as it did before the update.
Yes, it seems that early releases of the N4 did come with the ICS browser installed and it was, apparently, killed with 4.3. It's not an issue after all, since Chrome is fine (and so are Firefox and Dolphin).Odd. I didn't think the N4 ever shipped with the old ICS browser, I thought it was released with JB and Chrome. Anyway, looks like Google zapped it with the 4.3 OTA.
I'm in the UK and we got the N4 later than some (as usual) and with Chrome, so presumably there must have been an earlier release elsewhere that came with the old browser.

Are you sure about that? That would be interesting if so. A friend got the N4 as soon as it came out. One of the downsides of it, to me, was the lack of the "android"/no name browser.
Chrome doesn't support flash, so I liked having a chrome-like browser with flash on my GNex. Not a big downside (gets less important all the time), but it was nice to have the old browser.
If your phone had it, that would be neat.
