Help Black screen after answer call on nexus 4

Happens to me as well, although I have a case on the phone and a screen protector installed...

Will check it out tonight and see if I have the same issue

This happened to me twice this past weekend. I was on a phone call and I wanted to check what time it was, and the screen took like 5 seconds to turn on after I put it away from my ear but it finally turned on. I believe this might be software issue.

just tested mine out, removed the screen protector and works fine?

Seems a bit strange that the screen protector would affect this but either way, seems to be working fine now :)

Same problem. But no screen protector, no case, and calls made from Bluetooth so I'm not even touching the phone.

Also this is a stock Nexus 6 with no modifications.

Ok I'm having this issue now too, which is really frustrating and inconvienent. Whenever I receive or make a call, and as soon as I accept it, the screen turns black leaving me unable to get it to turn back on. I would end up usually cold booting device by holding power button for 10 seconds. Occasionally if I'm lucky, I can spam the power button and get it to turn on quickly to be turned back off again so if I touch the screen when it turns on i'll be ok. Couple other times I've been able to get it to turn on surprisingly by pressing the power button a few times and it "decides" to turn on again. This is all random if I'm fortunate.

I've tried many different things with no avail from notification settings, clearing any type of data within the app, making sure all settings are turned on for the app, etc. I have a screen protector on it, but it was working completely fine until I sideloaded android 5.1. I had 5.0.1 before and everything worked perfect with the dialer app. Now that's my ONLY issue.....really sucks. Maybe sideloading via adb causes issues? I have not done factory reset as I read that it doesn't change anything and would like to avoid so if possible. Sure hope someone knows what may cause this...? It HAS to be software issue since it worked fine before, maybe just 5.1 bug? Please anyone relate their experience if you've had this or fixed it. Will keep updated once I figure it out.

Where'd you get the 5.1 to sideload? As far as I know, neither the OTA nor factory image have been made available for the Nexus 4 (occam/mako) yet.

I upgraded to 5.1 yesterday & it seems like it fixed this problem. I've made 3 BT calls, but so far no black screen...as I usually see it on every call. So, it's fixed for me at least.
