Okay but it sounded awful official when the sales rep told me I'd have the phone the 14th and then the 24th. I think what it comes down to is the whole thing has been a mess with everyone sharing blame. I know I'm looking forward to the phone I just hope to get it sometime! LOL
Serious question however, say the phone isn't released, what is the next best best bet? The Bionic, The Revolution or something else? Just curious

How can we give advice on phones that have not been released yet ?? :)
 
The same way everyone is giving advice and saying what a wonderful phone the TB will be. Everyone is saying it's going to be a great phone, what's that based on? Probably the same thing you you can for an opinion of the other phones. Plenty of people giving advice on the TB and it's sure not released.
 
I am just saying I would not tell a person to buy a phone that had not come out yet. I would only give advice on what was out now and had customer feedback.
 
For what it's worth I just spoke with a CSR at Verizon (Michele) and I asked her about any possible dates. (My first call). I must say I'm a little concerned now because she was throwing around 2nd quarter availability, first I've heard of anything that far out. Just for the record I made her read it to me 3 times and she did say 2nd quarter availability. I don't want to start any rumors but I'm just passing along info.

A damn fine line between spreading rumor and passing along info. LOL!! :D

I can almost hear the finance department at Best Buy hootin' and hollarin'. Drinks on the house tonight.
 
I don't see where he ever "officially" announced when it would be available either. Did I miss something?

Added: Not being snarky, just honestly asking if I missed it.
 
Agreed, but the point is she was reading from company supplied talking points for what's it's worth. That's why I asked her to repeat herself, I wanted to make sure she read it the same way and it is company supplied information. Just for what's its worth.
I think there is no way this goes to the 2nd quarter but it's beginning to sound as if that might be the company line.

Jay never force fed us anything. It's not anybodys fault but our own if we got caught up in this release.

Why would you blame a good Samaritan? :confused:

I didn't add any hysteria to the release of this phone, nor have I been hysterical about it not being out yet. I take responsibility for my actions, when there is responsibility to take. It is the cornerstone of my line of work. However, I am not the one who insisted on a release date here. Nice try at redirecting though.

I am just saying, he shouldn't blame folks that didn't release a date, when he insisted it was the 21st, and then gave people that disagreed with him crap (I was one of them).

It isn't a big deal, but if you are going to "call out" others, you should first look at your record of miss information.

I'm not sure I agree on this. To say someone, or even a group of people, is responsible for the hysteria over this phone is not correct. The hyteria over this phone would still be there with no information coming out at all. The hysteria would just be more targeted at Verizon and the fact that they are not saying anything. The hysteria is created by the fanatics that want this phone and are obsessed over the phone. Having said that, people like Jay and BMX do open themselves up to criticism over releasing the info that they have. But I for one like to know the info that some credible people have over knowing nothing at all. And if I was an insider I would definitely want to share whatever info I did have while knowing that I could also be creating a headache for myself.

Understood, and I agree with most of this. I simply take issue with jay essentially saying BB is a victim. They are all culpable, and so is the person that posted pictures of an incorrect add and stock information.

I agree that hysteria is only in the mind of the person displaying it, I should have better said it was 'fueled' by jay and the like.
 
It doesn't make any difference if she was reading from the Bible , you will find out on one of the android forums (the release date ) before you will ever find out on a call to a vzw csr. I have been into smart phones since they came out and have always got info on the forums before the csr's ever got it.
 
People are defending BMX (whom I think is great btw) for hinting at a date and things going wrong that were beyond his control, so he had to change his tune. The same could be said about Jay. People will only be that insistent if they have a reason to be. Whether it's BMX's job on the line or Jay's job on the line, there is still a fine line to walk when releasing information. Everyone has been guilty (myself included) of insisting on a certain date based on what they heard. You, me, BMX, Jay and everyone else added fuel to the fire at one time or another. This isn't the time to place blame or "call someone out", let's just wait patiently for this phone to arrive and stop attacking each other. Placing blame on one persons shoulders isn't going to make the wait any easier for anyone. Can we all move along now, nothing to see here. JMHO
 
Hey, I'm going to do something novel and post on topic!

First off, thanks again BMX. Your insights and clues to what it's like on your side of the fence are most appreciated.

So I tried to think of a few questions that shouldn't get you in too much trouble, but would probably be pretty interesting info to people around these parts.

1. How many different models of phone/tablet are you testing right now?
2. What's the average time between the above products getting in your hands and getting out to consumers?
3. What percentage of things you test never make it to market?
4. Will you ever be able to talk about some of the inside info with the TB and what it took to get this phone out the door? (say sometime after launch?)
5. If you had to buy a phone in the next 30 days on VZW, what would you get?
6. If you had to buy a phone in the next year on VZW, what would you hold out for?

I'm not sure where I stand on the BB is the victim. Because partially I agree that BB is culpable but Verizon has to be blamed as well. I find it hard to believe that Verizon did not give the different release dates to BB so that they can go forward with their ads. On top of that look at what Verizon did just last week at releasing their own ads and then pulling them. To me this is all one big mess that Verizon has created by giving dates in the first place. I understand the pressure they have in trying to get their devices out and the marketing aspect of it but they need to make sure their devices are ready to go before giving any dates IMO.
