Help Bloatware Back After dl09!!! Can't Get Rid of Them!?

When I originally got my phone, I brought it home, rooted it, renamed all the bloat ware to .apk.old. Worked like a charm.

Now I took off the .old from all the bloatware files, got my dl09 OTA update, rerooted my phone, went in to root explorer, rerenamed bloatware apks to .old, and pow, phone automatically rerenames them to .apk and takes off the .old.

Anyone else have this problem? Any have a solution for me? I really don't want to have to permanently delete any of the stock files in fear of future update problems.

make a backup of your system in clockwork recovery...then flash adrynalynes super clean 0.4 for dl09...will do it all for you

Is there a step by step guide you can point me to to do this? I really want to do it, but I don't want to even have the slightest chance of bricking it.

Thank you in advance.

1. Download the rom [ROM] DL09 Super Clean 0.4 - xda-developers
2. Put it on your sdcard
3. Boot into clockwork recovery (assuming you have it installed)
4. Navigate down to backup/restore....backup
5. Then go to install from sdcard....navigate to the rom...,click on it and install it
6. Once it flashes...navigate to wipe cache partition....and click yes
7. Reboot and ur good to go

Also if you have titanium backup or my backup pro....you might want to backup your apps and data ahead of time...,but odds are you ll be fine

Before re-rooting, etc, are you sure you gave yourself r/w permissions in whatever file manager you're using? I did the exact same thing, frustratingly noticing none of my .old extensions changes were taking, and then caught that I didn't change my permissions.

Actually I've never touched clockwork anything... Can you please go over how and what to do with clockwork recovery, and where to get it to please?

Like I said, I've never used CW...So I wouldn't/don't know what is what. For example, the link that you provided (which I appreciate, thank you), says "clockworkmod." I would have/do think that it is something completely different than what was previously stated that I need, "clockwork recovery." So while I do use the search feature, I was hoping someone could point me to the exact guide/program he was referring to so I/everyone reading this unquestionably follow correct directions and have as little as possible chance for error.

Thank you again.

the link that was provided for clockwork outlines exactly what to do to install it :)

Now I have installed CWM, and want to do Super Clean, but was reading that it isn't as easy as the steps you provided above. I read that I have to flash the modem first and install kernals, and more and more....

Is that correct? Or will everything work fine if I just do exactly what you said to do in the steps outlined above?

I'm really hoping so, but I don't want to have a brick if I don't ask these questions first.

Thank you!

Bloat Freezer in the market, it is my own app. Freeze apps in one click and then defrost in one click to get your OTAs next time instead of having to do all that renaming mess. 'Defrost All' button coming soon to make defrosting everything even easier before an OTA.

if you have the dl09 ota already then you have the radio and kernel....you only need to d/l the rom, put it on your sdcard, and flash it in clockwork recovery

Thank you so much for all the knowledge you've shared.

I have one last question: Will my text logs and all my contacts still be there if I flash with superclean 0.4 in CWM? If not, anyone know how to make a copy or transfer my texts/text logs to my computer for backup? This is extremely important for me, cause I need some for a court case.

as long as you dont wipe data your contacts will be there...although fwiw if theyre phone only contacts and not google, they arent tied to your account so that could be an issue if you ever had to factory reset your phone

umm...as for the text logs, i really dont know....the roms all replace the samsung messaging with aosp messaging, so that may lead you to not being able to access them....ive never personally tried to backup texts/messages...im sure its possible i just personally never looked into it

Hey you mention "back up your data" what data are you referring to? I'm using titanium, but only thing I know to back up is the apps on here.

What kind of data would i want to back up and what should I backup? I'm about to take the plunge as soon as I hear back on this

Thanks!

Just downloading an app like Bloat Freezer or even the more expensive Titanium Backup Premium and freezing the bloat would have taken about 5 minutes and avoided ALL of these headaches you seem to be having.

Just trying to help :D

I appreciate your help, and clearly you believe your app is the best option, but it's not going to work for what I want to accomplish.

Thank you for your opinion and your hard work in making the app!

I'm trying to install SuperClean 0.4 through ROM Manager, but it keeps telling me error, "ROM Manager was unable to open this file. Please remove any spaces from your file and folder path. Or run it manually via CWM rec" or something along those lines. Obviously there is no spaces in the name, which is why I have the problem here.

I've tried downloading the .zip file of the rom from other sources, but same thing. I've checked the MD5 checksum and it checks out correct. Anyone have any idea what the problem could be? This is my first rom I'm trying to flash. So this is all new to me.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

Hello, I followed your instructions and they work perfectly! Thanks for posting them!

Would you happen to have a line on where to find swype.apk? It seems it the SuperClean0.4 does not have it in there. I really like swype... Thanks in advance
