Some of the bloatware I would like to remove.

Any problems if I use Titanium backup to remove these from 2.3.5 Gingerbread?

If your phone is rooted you can delete the bloat. If stock you are stuck with it. So I give big thanks to the guru's who helped all of us improve our phones over stock!

To be safe, I converted the Bloatware from system apps to user apps.

I was then able to remove via the stock task manager.

i have 2.3.5 gb and used tite bakup to get rid of all of the above plus more .. i know the more exper guys say be careful of what you uninstall bacause you could jack up the os

How did you go about doing this? Do i need titanium backup to convert and remove bloatware if i have rooted gingerbread?

The custom rom CTMod is Gingerbread 2.3.5 and tiny (the smallest, bloat free possible). My Prevail had 111mb free upon installation (94mb free now with addition of Google Maps and a few other things). It runs incredible. The screen is much more responsive and the phone quicker. Like a new phone and with more features.

I really wish someone would make A how to for Dummys guide one rooted phones for first time users!!! not to be a pain in the rear or nothing. Im just saying, ~Thanks in Advanced~ ~Kamaro, (Like the car Camaro, but with a K)

If you are interested in flashing custom roms start here...

Each of threads it links to have detailed instructions. I don't want to sound like a broken record, but it helps to search and read the posts. Time-consuming, yes, but I learned a lot, and I think helped a few others...

I use the latest ctmod, and I really enjoy it.

When i use titatanium, I usually "freeze" the apps before uninstalling. Just to make sure I didn't bolox up the system. If everything works, then i would uninstall them. But ctmod sure does get rid of the bloat!

And I have to mention my new friend Lordvincent 90. He has hooked it right up, having patience a mile long with me. Shouts to ya bro. Yeah, just let me know if theres anything I can help ya with. Is your phone rooted? Thats the first place to start. I used Clockwork Mod to flash the newest version of Cyanogen 7 by Hroark. Its pretty cool. Im still feeling the effects of having so much more to do now but I like it. They are some smart and dedicated people keeping up on all the latest. HMU

Guys, I've moved this thread to the all-things-root sub-forum.

Also, I'd like to echo mvaness's warning in post #10 above that deleting an app, especially a system-related one, is not as safe as freezing it.

Its also a really good idea to make a Nandroid backup before freezing or deleting anything...otherwise you're asking for a bootloop if you nuke the wrong thing.

Thanks!
