On my old non smartphones If I had my Bluetooth device on my ear and the device paired with my phone all I had to do was hit the on button on the earpiece and I would get a automatic connection. With the Optimus V I have to first connect the Optimus to my earpiece with the connect function then hit the on button on the earpiece. Is there a way to get the functionality of the old non smartphones "auto connect" with the Optimus V? I tried a bluetooth widget but don't find it does anything more then putting bluetooth settings on the screen as an icon.

I find if you turn the bluetooth on the phone first then turn on the headsets or mic it will auto connect.
Thanks lou61166, I have tried this several times and nothing happens. Blue tooth is turned on on the Optimus V, I get a red LED on the earpiece then it turns blue which generally indicates it's on and connected but the phone indicates paired but not connected. If I hit the action button on the earpiece nothing happens between the earpiece and phone.
The earpiece is a Motorola H710, I would think they all works much the same.

There's a jump in technology that puts a gap between old Bluetooth devices and the newer phones. Might be it's not compatible with your phone. I don't know for sure if this is your problem(don't know how old your device is).This was true of my older device,and my new smartphone
