Bluetooth in Airplane Mode

This has been asked in the past on the forums but no one had a solution. Well some time has gone by since the last post about it. So is there any way to have Bluetooth running in airplane mode? Or is there a way to just shut off the cellular radio? I am not looking for this to use on an airplane, I just want to be able to use my phone to output music to my Bluetooth speaker when I am out of range from any cell towers. I don't want it to keep looking for a signal and killing the battery.

The wifi work around does not seem to work for Bluetooth. So, the only option I see for you is to get a Bluetooth adaptor. It's a small Bluetooth transmitter that plugs into your 3.5 mm headphone jack. Then your phone can be in airplane mode.

Yeah, by design none of the radios work when airplane mode is selected except for wifi so a bluetooth adapter will have to do for now. Unless there is some kind of hack that I am not aware of.

This was most definitely possible on the Evo 4G by first turning on airplane mode (to shut off all radios), at which point, you could selectively turn on any of the radios. Kinda defeats the purpose of airplane mode as it pertained to "federal air regulations," but was a really great way to isolate radio usage.

Looks like it's "fixed" in the new Sense. BT settings are grayed out if you are in airplane mode. My toggle widget doesn't appear to work either.

Just checked: CM7 allows you to do it, so there's a good chance that AOSP 2.3.3 ROMs allow you to airplane mode and then selectively enable radios.
