Help Bluetooth Keyboard for Droid - Faster Typing

Work fine I need the key for keypro.

Mac 00:03:C9:A2:10:43

I think that this developer stopped developing...his key pro app had not had any updates in a long time, and his "forum", which you HAVE to join to get the key you pay for is dead, dead, dead.......

Unfortunately the freedom drivers for the pro universal keyboard never worked for me, so I was stuck. Hopefully ymmv in a much better way.

Roylive,

I have pulled the instructions from the developer's website to make this a complete posting. Where I made slight modifications to work with my Droid and Freedom Pro I have posted in brackets {} and used italics. I used the following steps to enable the keyboard:

Installation:
Download KeyPro from the Android Marketplace

Configuration:

Open Android

I saw this on Freedom's website.

Freedom Input

At the very bottom, it mentions Big Red disabling certain bluetooth features. Does anyone know if that includes our beloved Droid?

the apple bluetooth keyboard is roughly a foot long and 6 inches wide. way too big to use with a phone. its thin as hell, but not small.

The APple keyboard would be nice...IF...it was listed in the BT keyboards on the Keypro settings

WHY CANT ANDROID WORK WITH HIDBLUETOOTH KEYBOARDS?!:(:(:(

Actually it can, and it already does, Blueinput is a HID driver, running in application space:

Look good, eh?

I use the iGo Stowaway keyboard for my Droid2, and it works great. It paired quickly and now I just have to open the keyboard and begin typing.

I know this is an old thread, but just wanted to say you guys are awesome for putting in all this work to get these bluetooth keyboards to work with Android. This was the last mental hurdle for me to finally jump in and get an Android phone (Thinking Samsung Epic 4G).

I'e been a Palm user from all the way back to my Palm Vx and when PDA's had not the first inkling of how to connect to the interweb. So it's reassuring to know that there are still people who realize the potential of these phones as portable computers and productivity devices as opposed to colorful screens that you use to text your BFF and watch the newest silly video on YouTube. Keep up the good work!

Hi,

I use a Chainpus SmartKeyboard with the keypro on a dell streak mini 5 and it works great, if you choose the Amzer Smart Keyboard and if you give the Keyboard Adress manually. When I press the scan button, no reaction on blank black screen.
Nessesary to say, that in Bluetooth setting the device is paared but not connected.

Thanks for great work.
So i need a key for 00:0A:3A:2E:81:23

BT-FoldableKB

I have an old BT-Foldable KB that I have been unable to pair with my Galaxy Tab . I really like this foldable keyboard. Samsung's keyboard is bulky and cumbersome. I tried Universal freedom in Keypro . It pairs but does not actually type on the Tab. Any suggestions?

ipraisehim: did you download their driver from the Freedom website? There's a really good walkthrough on youtube about pairing and using it with an OG Droid. It should be the same process, so I'd recommend you look there if you get stuck

I have a samsung galaxy spica and would like to get a sliding keyboard for it. So I came up with the following idea:
I'm planning to buy a bluetooth slide out keyboard case for an iphone, and file some edges off so the top is flat, to then glue the keyboard case to my back cover.
I'd first need to know if the keyboard works with rooted android 2.2 software wise?

The specifications have no mention of HID or SPP compatibility.
Examples of the keyboard case I mentioned:
NUU MiniKey | iPhone 4 Keyboard | iPhone 4 Accessories | Consumer Electronics | Noetic Inc
BLUETOOTH SLIDE-OUT KEYBOARD BACK CASE FOR iPHONE 4 4G | eBay

I know this topic is meant for the droid, but this seems like the best place to ask.

I have used the Freedom Pro with the OG Droid (both stock and running Bugless Beast), as well as on my Stock DX. I haven't tried it personally on anything not made by Moto, so hopefully knowing it ran on those is helpful.

The iPhone slide-out keyboard works with froyo on my galaxy spica.

Despite this, I wouldn't recommend this particular keyboard, since the characters tend to appear twice on 1 button press sometimes. Also, you have to push some keys harder than others in order for the characters to come through.
This is concerning the keyboard you can find on ebay, it's the same one as the kiBoard one that iVogue is selling.

I have a Droid 3 and an iGo ultra-slim keyboard that I've used with other phones in the past. I love the keyboard and hate to let it go for something that doesn't touch type as well.

I've been trying the KeyPro demo for a couple of days.
I go to bluetooth settings and scan for devices.
The Droid 3 recognized it as a Think Outside Keyboard.
I initiate pairing, it asks for a code. I give it 0000 or 1234.
It says pairing . . . but never completes.

That is my story. Any clues?

If this isn't going to work, does the G-tech folding keyboard work, the Blackberry version?

Many thanks for any help,

Steve
