Help BlueTooth Keyboard

I was in a store yesterday and I came across a bluetooth keyboard and its packaging markets it towards android devices.
I was just curious if this would work with the MT.. I ask because it seems like VM disables quite a bit of bluetooth functions with their devices. Like my car has the ability to read text messages and send them, but not with my MT, also my car has the ability to stream music via bluetooth (which isn't too big since i have both usb and aux) but does not work with the MT

So would this keyboard work? Id kinda like it for when I'm at work..

It seems like it would if there's an app to install for it to communicate properly. I've been considering a small one myself maybe like a hand held one for instant chat which gets hard on touchscreen

I've been looking at more of them and there are ones more specific to android phones, because they have a send text button shortcut and a few other things... the only thing is, is they are not exactly cheap

I also found one from Motorola and it says: "Phone must support Bluetooth HID profile to use this application"

Does the MT meet that requirement?

Human Interface Device Profile (HID)
Provides support for devices such as mice, joysticks, keyboards, as well as sometimes providing support for simple buttons and indicators on other types of devices. It is designed to provide a low latency link, with low power requirements. PlayStation 3 controllers and Wii Remotes also use Bluetooth HID.
Bluetooth HID is a lightweight wrapper of the Human Interface Device protocol defined for USB. The use of the HID protocol simplifies host implementation (ex: support by Operating Systems) by enabling the re-use of some of the existing support for USB HID to also support Bluetooth HID.,
Which in short means that it should work.

Just got an HP Touchpad Wireless Keyboard to work with my Triumph using Bluekeyboard JP. The set up instructions were complicated, but it worked in the end.

Well I just went on Motorola's website and read up on their keyboard and listed under supported devices was the MT so being it was on sale for 40 I decided I'd try it out.. and if I have to root my phone to use it, I guess I will. I'd really like to have a keyboard haha I'm getting too lazy and tired of the touch screen keyboard

Well I got it.. but it won't connect. It pairs with it but will not connect.
I long press it in my bluetooth devices and the only selection that comes up is unpair, where when I long press another device it comes up with unpair connect and options.
Any advice short of rooting.. 3rd party bluetooth apps? I emailed motorola, just waiting to hear from them.. but hope maybe I could fix it sooner.
The Triumph was listed as a compatible device on Motorola's website.
Here
its listed under there when you click more products.

Look at my previous post. There is an app there that doesn't require root.

I have a Think OUtside Bluetooth Keyboard and never could get it to work on my stock VT. When I converted it over to Cynagen Mod7 the keyboard works great.

I did have to download Bluetooth Keyboard from the Market but that was no problem.

Tried it and no success, the app does not find the keyboard

I will root it if Motorola turns up with no help which I'm pretty sure that will be the case

Well I got a response from VM.. this is the 2nd one from them the first one they told me how to use bluetooth, because apparently it's very difficult

Thanks for contacting Virgin Mobile Customer Care.

First let me extend my apologies for any inconvenience this has caused.

The bluetooth can only be used as a hand-free device. You cannot get more options because there are no options available. We are sorry for any misunderstanding.

This still doesn't explain why it is listed on Motorola's website as a compatible device when it shows it as a VM phone.
