Bluetooth

I've had my LG Optimus V for about 5 weeks and overall I've been pretty happy, except for one thing, Bluetooth. The problem I have is that it will not stay paired with my car's bluetooth system consistently. I had an LG phone before with Verizon and it stayed paired non-stop. So I thought I would have the same success with this Optimus V. But the signal goes on and off, making it's utility basically worthless.

Does anyone have any advice?

Also, does battery level have anything to do with it?

Does a weak signal strenght have anything to do with it? It seems to have the most problems in wooded areas.

Just to clarify on one of my comments, in a wooded area, the phone will work, but the bluetooth will not. It looks like if the phone would work, bluetooth should work.

I'm very new to the bluetooth thing. I have a bt headset (not an ear piece an over the head with a boom mic headset) that I always forget to use when I use my phone. I have found that to get it to work I have to turn off BT on the phone, turn on the BT device, turn on BT on the phone then wait for it to say BT connected then press the power button on the headset quick until I hear the connect beep.

Once I successfully get it to connect it stays connected until I get sick of wearing the headset or the headset goes to sleep.

Thanks for this comment. I seem to have a similar experience. It's as if the phone will not stay on bluetooth unless it has to. The bluetooth indicator on my car just goes in and out as if it's checking to see if it's needed. But way to many times I need to make a call and it is not connected. I just have to wait on it to connect 5 mintues later, or pick up the phone and make a call with it in my hand. Like I have said, the it's basically worthless. My other LG phone stayed connected all the time.

I did re-pair it over the weekend. Still no change. Pairs just fine, but want stay connected.

Your BT device might not be compatible with the "V". I had a in car visor mount BT device that worked great with the flip phone that I had. But when I switched to a smart phone it would do the same thing yours is doing.

My solution was to by a new Motorola in car visor mount that was compatible with pretty near everything. I haven't had a problem since.
I have to have the bluetooth turned on the phone, then turn the BT device on and I'm good to go.
I can walk away from the car and the BT device turns it self off. When I get within range it turns it self on and connects.

Thank you for this information. It stinks that I have to buy something else when I just paid $$$ for this car with bluetooth just 5 months ago. Since my old phone was LG, it's hard to believe this LG "smart phone" is not compatable.

But since I will not be trading the vehicle for at least 4 years or more, if I need bluetooth, I may have no choice but to buy an external device.

Make sure it's for sure the bluetooth device in the car that's the problem. If you have a friend with a smart phone and bluetooth device, then try and see if that device will pair and connect with it with no problems.

Unfortunately I don't hav a lot of friends with a Smart Phone. :( Guess I will try to make some. :)
Friends are everywhere,if you are willing to be a friend. There really easy to make. You just have to be willing to look past there imperfections.
As we ourselves want others to overlook are imperfections.

Try going to the dealer and asking if someone has a smart phone that they could try it out for you. Just let them know you're trying to figure out if it is the car or your phone.
