Help Blutooth Drivers?

OverByter

Resident Slide Rule Guru
I've been trying to connect to my Triumph from my pc via blutooth. The pc and phone see one another and pair but I can't get them to connect. I think the pc is looking for drivers but I can't locate any. Already have usb drivers and have no problem connecting over usb. Any ideas? Thanx, Clint

grab Bluetooth file transfer from the market.
It works well for ftp, if you have trouble.

Don't worry about BT connection, just make sure devices are paired

You should be able to send via long press /share/via Bluetooth/select your computer.

From your computer, right click/send/Bluetooth/your phone's name/

Thank you for your help. While I have downloaded the program I can send files to my sd card but the program is unable to connect to my pc, asks me to make sure my computer is discoverable which it is. The phone can see my pc just not able to connect. I want to be able to see files on my pc and phone at the same time so I can decide where to transfer them. Whether that's with file manager or ftp I don't mind. I have CuteFt Pro installed on my pc already. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanx, Clint
P.S. I found a program by the same company to install on my pc called Bluetooth OBEX File Transfer that's allowing me to transfer files to my pc, but still not really what I'm looking for.

I get what you're saying, but I've never been able to accomplish that, so I don't know if that's possible. Files always go into whatever default Bluetooth folder on the receiving device.
Sorry i can't help with that. If you find a solution, please post in this thread. :D

The main problem right now is using two progs to accomplish file transfers. Bluetooth file transfer on the phone allows me to send file from my pc to my phone, then i have to use the Blutooth OBEX file transfer program on my pc to send files to the phone. Can't get the phone to connect only pair with the pc. Any ideas? BTW this was very simple with my Droid back in the day. Don't know what's going on.

I want to use it for file transfer, instead of constantly plugging in via usb.

The best method of accomplishing this IMHO is to download an FTP client like FileZilla on the PC, and an FTP server onto the phone like SwiFTP and use a WiFi connection.

Alternatively, you might want to look for a program called MyPhoneExplorer for your PC and your phone.

I appreciate the help. I can ftp over wifi, just don't understand why I can't accomplish it over bluetooth. It would be much more convenient for me in that my desktop is usually hardwired to my router. I have to start my wifi adapter just to be able to ftp into this phone. Other android phones that I've used worked no problem except for maybe having wifi transfers locked down until rooted. I don't know.

Been thinking on this.
Can es file explorer handle this?
Be right back...

Well, it let's you browse only the Bluetooth exchange folder as defined on the pc.
There may be a way to change that.
I'll look into it further.

I love this forum. Thanx, Clint

Me too. :)

Anyway, appears to be a windows limitation.
I have xp on my little NetBook with Bluetooth.
Not sure if this applies to vista and 7.

Looks like you can put your Bluetooth Exchange Folder anywhere, as long as it is named Bluetooth Exchange Folder.
I tried to define mine to c:\ and it took it, but then the Bluetooth file transfer service connection would fail. It works fine no matter where you locate that folder, but the name must remain the same. This limits us from navigating outside of the BTE folder via Bluetooth.

There may be a work around/hack, but...?:(

No, the client only needs the TCP/IP address of the server to connect to it. The laptop can be connected to the router with a CAT5 or CAT6 cable.

When you use an FTP client server pair as I described, you can do so so so much more than you can over a BT link.

Try it if you haven't already.

Unfortunately not true, I thought so myself but if I try ftp into my phones server without having my wifi adapter active all I'll get is a socket error. Comp has to be wireless for me to ftp in. Using Cuteftp Pro and Swiftp for proggys.

I cannot think of a good reason why this wouldn't work except maybe you have some restrictions / security set up within the router. I'll have to try it myself and get back to you.

Is your Triumph connected to your LAN via WiFi? If so then install GetJar, then install their free version of "Wifi File Explorer Pro" (or pay $0.99 from Google). Then you can use the web browser on your computer to access the files on your phone. It's pretty cool, though since it doesn't appear to have much security (unless it has to be enabled), it is only really something you would want to use when on your own private home LAN.

stef7, neither can I, use ftp quite often. Though to be honest I've never ftp'd into a wireless server before. Might be more than meets the eye there.
ecarlson I appreciate the idea but what I'm looking for is the ability to see both my pc and phone in a single pane for easy file manipulation. Whether by wifi or bluetooth is pretty much irrelevant at this point although I originally thought that bluetooth would be perfect for the job. The search continues............. Thanx, Clint

thangfish thanks so much for the help, that's the obex client I tried earlier. I can use it to send but I can't browse on the phone. I am currently running Windows 7 Ultimate and Ubuntu only when I have to.;) I'm beginning to think this might be a dead end although it was simple enough on my OG Droid way back when. Right now I'm using wifi ftp into the phone but that's not optimal because my pc is usually hardwired to the router. Now I have to enable wifi just to transfer files to and from the phone.

Oh well...
I just send files from ES File explorer to PC and move from the BT EXCHANGE folder when I need to.
From PC, I just select them all and right click-send-Bluetooth-triumph.

I guess I don't swap enough back and forth for it to really be troublesome.

Good luck. Maybe someone will come up with something around here.
