Root [Boost Mobile] B08 update file captured.

its not to hard VMWare Ubuntu and some sudo commands :)

Open Applications/Accessories/Terminal

#mkdir /mnt/tmp

#mount -o loop system.img.ext4 /mnt/tmp (Make sure system.img.ext4 is in your home folder "Places/ home folder")

#chown -h username -l /mnt/tmp (Change owner from root to your account.... Makes changing permissions easier)

#chmod 6755 /mnt/tmp (change permissions to read/write)

Now you can navigate to Filesystem/mnt/tmp "Places/ Home Folder then click on filesytem on the right, then click on mnt/tmp" and open the app folder delete what you want or add anything.

*Note (Changes are made immediately so make a backup before you delete anything.)

When your finished just use
#umount /mnt/tmp (This will unmount the image)

Did it work? Did you test it out yet?
 
Will try as soon as i get off get home and play with my 3 kids for a little. Btw only 23 yrs old. Does anyone feelblike were getn close
 
I have TRIED flashing it but I can't seem to recreate the circumstance in which it bypasses download and starts extraction. I know if I can get it to install it will work, because there is a similar method for a tablet.
 
With the galaxy prevail the original ctmodrom formatted the phone to ext4, would the warp be on the canidate list for such operation?

Im thinking it has to be exactly same filesize. Its probably comparing sizes before it will install.
 
both of the files are the same size, it just keeps connecting to the internet and downloading the file. i will mess with it some more tomorrow. i have to work tonight. i will take a closer look at all the files within the program and look into the program itself to see what i can find
 
Try deleting or renaming the file in C:\Program Files\Handset software update tool\Handset software update tool\N860files called emmcbld.mbn. and see if that makes a difference.
 
well come to find out the new file is 3mb larger then the original lol. so i will have to fix that and retry :D
 
Okay, got the file back down to 121mb. Wish me luck!

As far as i can tell the update process connects to this page. from there it is able to collect the update files. i haven't exactly figured out how it does this yet. but that site is accentual to the update process. without that address in the app config. it will not detect network access. so we just need to unlock the key to that page

EDIT: Well i got my custom update to flash..... bad new is the phone wont boot afterwards. so we might need to rethink things, if we could get a good backup from CWM then we might be in business!

EDIT2: Re-tried again and i think i messed the entire phone up lol. seems it wont go past the android splash screen. hopefully the phone defaults to boot-loader and i can re-flash the recovery image
 
what exactly did you change? i found that if you unzip the meta.zip in b08 update in the meta folder there is a apkcerts txt doc. not sure but if you added an apk file to the custom update would you not have to add a certificate or it? just random thinking
 
well as of right now i cant even get into ftm mod to reflash the phone... so im not sure what to do

EDIT: Well i think where gonna call this one a bust :( im stuck as of what to do and my phone is a complete brick now.

EDIT2: I guess in retrospect i knew the repercussions of what might happen if it did mess up... good thing i have more then one warp. looks like im gonna be using my backup until i get a new one :(

lol don't worry about it. that's why i have insurance :p anyways, while looking the phone over and trying all button combinations to get into the bootloader. i noticed a reset button right above the camera on the back of the phone :) just one more thing we probably all overlooked
 
lol i must have opened the back 4 dozen times in the last 24 hours and i never noticed it. i kinda wanna push it lol


maybe next time i brick it
