Root [Boost Mobile] Boot animations not working....

I tried searching for my particular issue and no luck so here goes... I have had my Warp rooted since I've got it, but I've only themed it, no custom roms etc... I had only used Rom Toolbox to install themes and boot animations and it's always worked fine... Last week I decided to try and manually install bootanimations found here Android Boot Animations - Your One Stop Source for Bootanimation.zip for Android! by using the a terminal in my Warp to move the bootanimation.zip to the /system/media folder. I am quite familiar with how to effectively use Linux commands and I know I successfully copied the new animation over the old one... well I was 100% sure when I rebooted and started to see the new animation in action, but it was very slow and glitchy and my system never booted. After waiting a while I tried to reboot and no luck so I then used the online update tool to reinstall the original and started all over. I then tried a couple of other animations of different sizes and the same (I know it's 480x800) and they all did the exact same thing. After trying 5 different ones from that site and elsewhere (some of them I beleive would work because Rom toolbox has some of the same ones) tried using Rom Toolbox again and it works! WTH? What am I doing wrong? am I corrupting the file when I move it? Anyway I have since installed one of the Windows 7 roms and even fixed the camera and launcher 7 problems with it, but I can't solve this!!! Frustrating. Any help please?

Thanks lunatic. You have to copy over the bootanimation.apk and the bootsound.mp3. I'm not 100% positive that's what it's called but that is the process...

Yep it's a zip. and I have done exactly that as described in the above post, copied bootanimcation.zip over the existing one in /system/media.

Upload the zip your trying...I recommend just using a file explorer like root explorer and instead of overwriting the stock bootanimation.zip, rename that one to bootanimationOLD.zip or something of the sort, MOVE it into a new folder, then paste your custom one in... btw nice username, if you are referring to tool, my fav band, maynard is the man, met him once at a restaurant..

Maynards a brilliant man I have a great respect for him, but it's not just a reference to the album for me it's a way of life, a journey to ever expand my mind and be able to not allow my emotions conflict with reason, but at the same time allowing each to flow together harmoniously...

Anyway to the subject at hand, I have tried a few from that site and elsewhere but one example is attached.

You put into words exactly my thoughts as a whole...I'm 100% same way...spent many a night in the chapel (COSM of course, not a church related chapel lol) expanding my mind with alex grey giving us his private tours along with ..um private mind expansion " aids " ;)...Ill look at that zip and see if i see anything unusual but your saying this happens w. almost any?

Except the ones I install with Rom Toolbox using it's choices. The selections their are limited and I wanted to try different ones. I have tried several ways:

Code:
su
cp /sdcard/bootanimation.zip /system/media
and
Code:
su
chmod 777 /system/media
cp /sdcard/bootanimation.zip /system/media
but I know that with su there is no need for changing permissions.

Yes you are correct about that...im kind of at a loss here as to why your having this issue...have you tried uninstalling rom toolbox, and just moving the files manually through the phone itself? Also thought i just remembered one of the files, either the animation or the sound , i forgot which one, HAS to be named w/ a caplital B i believe..or at least that was the issue last month when i was actively modding my phone, just got it back but...yeah idk otherwise...

Yes I have, using ES File Explorer. And since I have flashed my rom again I haven't reinstalled Rom Toolbox again. Do you know of a different type of app that is like Rom Toolbox with bootanimation selections? I just tried Absolute System to install one and it's froze again... I might of been wrong when I said I installed this custom rom after my first problems so I am going to flash to my original and try again. So it has to be named Bootanimation.zip and not bootanimation.zip?

No... its bootanimation.zip... I just checked mine

Sent from my N860 using Tapatalk 2 Beta-5

it is faster to use root toolbox to change the boot animation that what I use and it has not given me problem.it is free in the play store

Ok well the only successful way I can install an animation is Rom Toolbox. Whatever it does is doing it right. I just wish there was a way to use it to install the custom ones.

That definitely could be it, but then again..i've installed a uot theme and then just manually swapped .zips...
UOT is a website where you make themes.

No I haven't been there, though I am a graphic designer and have made all sorts of animations, but I've only installed ones from ROM toolbox and the link I provided above one other site I don't remember.

Its best to just switch boot animation manually which is by copying and pasting them into the system/media folder

Ok, but as the rest of my posts state above it only works using Rom Toolbox, when I manually do it the bootanimations freeze every time. We've had a long discussion about this above.

I have no experience with that app the thing im guessing it might be putting them somewhere else which is causing your conflict
