Root [Boost Mobile] Boot logo...

Newbie
Hi. I'm wondering if anyone knows where I can find flashable boot logos for the zte warp. My phone is already rooted.Would it be ok to flash one from xda or one I find that isnt made for the warp? Thanks!

In our Warp, I know there are two boot logos. One is in the kernel and the other is in another place that I forgot. The kernel one shows up second but sometimes its the same as the first as a smoothness thing. I don't think you can flash one from XDA safely, and I wouldn't attempt it. There was a splash image from Shinjiutsu rom that had a snapdragon eye that was really cool so if you can find it, you can probably use it to learn how to make your own. Also, I believe Mercury0x000d has a tool called ABSM if I'm not mistaken that can help with that. I also know the image has to be drawn upside down in a special format. If I can find you that splash image, I'll link ya to it :D

Thanks for the help! So is it ok to flash a different kernel on another rom? Like using Glitch kernel for a rom that doesn't have it? Sorry if I'm making no sense. Just trying to learn a bit. I appreciate all the help.

There is the splash image, the boot logo in the kernel, and the boot animation. They all show up in that order when you turn on the phone. The boot animation can be easily changed with ROM Toolbox, though some of the animations can give you bootloop requiring a flash of a working boot animation or a reflash of the entire rom. Also, RT can be used for a bunch of other things but yes certain functions, if used improperly, can brick the phone.

For boot animation I suggest using root browser from Google play and manually copying the bootanimation.zip to the ''system\media\'' folder. You can use rom toolbox to download the boot animation or find boot animations online... our screen resolution is 400 X 800... :)

Oh yea..there's another one that's good for boot animation..''absolute system root tools''

I thought Rom Toolbox could brick the phone. Or are there certain things it shouldn't be used for?
I have been using rom toolbox pro for some time now with no ill effects. I have used all of the features and must say it is a great app. I think people get it mixed up with "Rom Manager". I bricked a Prevail with that one so I refuse to even try it on my Warp.

ROM Manager won't work since we don't have official CM support for our 3 AOSP roms (Sugar Kang, CM10 4.1.2, and CM10 4.2.1 I think...? Can't remember right.). The stuff from rom manager will eff up our Warp real bad.

I made two mistakes in my earlier post... our screen resolution is 480 X 800 not 400 X 800. and the absolute system tools app has been discontinued so it has no bootanimations any more... but i found a pretty nice collection of bootanimations that should work with our phone as long as you DO NOT FLASH THEM WITH CWM OR TWRP. Extract the bootanimation.zip file and place it in your system\media\ folder with ROOT BROWSER. HERE is the thread for the Samsung fascinate which shares our screen resolution.:)

Note: a lot of the links are dead but if you look through the thread there is more...

The initial boot screen is on a partition at /dev/block/mmcblk0p14, also referred to as /splash in some places in the system.
