I wonder if something like this is do-able? I flash different themes all the time, most of them come with different sms-mms smileys!! Sometimes I use a theme just for the smileys included, now, here's the project.

Can a flashable zip be made with all the different smiley's/ emotes?:confused:
I would love to have access to more smileys and emoticons when I use sms and mms without switching themes all the time. :p

Maybe their is an app already at the play store for this? I know all about Go sms and handcent sms apps, Not an option for me, The Go apps use up to much memory
and handcent just plain wont work, I dont like it.:mad:

i think that the smileys are made into the dif keyboards im most likely wrong i just wanted to put my 2 cents in lol
 
I don't know how to do this, but it is possible as I had someone in the Evo 3D dev department do this for me in the past.

Just need the stock sms apk and an edit/add of the right files. Oh and someone that knows how to and willing to :)

Go sms takes too much memory? :eek:

That's exactly what I am talking about, the stock sms app with a flashable zip to have all the rest of the emotes from all the themes!!:D
 
Croy, Gus, i2f, and others have all made themes with different emotes in the sms app. I really like them all, but sure could use something flashable to put all of them in one pack!!
 
So basically, you're asking for a stock sms/mms app that can switch between different sets of emoticons without having to flash anything, correct?

No,:) I am looking for a Flashable zip, that contains all the smileys and emotes from the themes that get created for noob rom.:D

noob Rom has lots of flashable themes for it, Thanks everyone, but all of them have different emotes!!

Sorta like Mercury's sound packs, only emotes and smileys instead!!:D
Flash the zip, and all emotes go to the sms app.;):p

If it can be done, or if someone is willing to do it.;):p:D
 
Well the emoticons are in framework-res.apk so if you don't wanna lose your current theme for the rest of your rom then you'd have to merge it into every flashable for the emoticons. So I think it could be done and it shouldn't be very hard to do :)
 
So you would copy your current framework-res a few times, and then go in and change the current set of emoticons for every copy then put it in a flashable so you don't lose the rest of the theme. Unless theres some way to throw in the emoticons into framework-res.apk without messing the apk up??
 
Mmmmm no its really not that hard I think anyone could do it as long as they have winrar... the way I themed my phone is that I went into one of I2f's flashable themes for CTmod noobed, and I replaced some of the icons that I didn't like or that I wanted to change, and then flashed the zip. And its alot easier than decompiling, recompiling, creating zip, and all that. Or you could take out the apk from the flashable zip, rename the extension from .apk to .zip, then extract drawable-hdpi and work that way then put that folder back in its place in framework-res.zip, rename back to .apk, and put that back into the flashable. I've done it a few times already and I find it much easier than decompiling and everything, since I don't edit xml's and if you just wanna change icons then you don't need to properly decompile using apktool or similar.

If you wanna give it a try then by all means, GO FOR IT!!!:D I think a lot of people would deff use it!!:D Plus we could add it to the ATR guide with your name on it!!:)
 
 
 
This will be awesome if someone can do it!! Plus, it may be flashabe across several different roms just like the sound packs!! YAY!!!
 
All my Googling is leading me to tuts on how to replace the existing smilies... not how to expand them. My efforts to manually expand them have all so far resulted in an mms which doesn't run. :(
