It's usually just common practice to clear both caches.

I do it periodically, and don't even change roms. It's just a good habit to get into.

Dalvik is all I mention because my install script wipes the normal cache for you.

In the newest Cyanoid public release, I will incorporate the Superwipe script into the Updater-Script which will wipe system,data,dalvik,cache,miscellaneous,kernel.

The installer scripts automatically wipe system, data, and both caches, unless someone purposefully removed it... no need for anyone to do it manually unless you run into trouble
