Root [Boost Mobile] [GUIDE] Manually update your prl. CDMA Workshop method.

so i was able to connect to the Verizon towers with my boost phone by changing some settings, i wasn't able to receive service from them but i still connected, when i called my voice mail it sent me to the customer service line. it is possible to use this as a verizon phone?

so the newest prl that snake posted makes my signal bars go up by 2 or 3 white bars but now theres no 3g just 1x should i redo the proxies

i installed the prl on nam1 and nam2

update now i have green x1 and 2 green signal bars

the signal bars are the same as they were before i did this

for thoes of you trying this after u put in your msl code click read under prl then name and save it some where incase one of these sprint prl completely drops signal to where u cant update prl like it did to me

im testing every one of these and writing down the results so i can post them later

they dont techmically have trojans i have to turn avg off just to run it

I wouldn't recommend that, lets just say i have some, experience, and...yes a lot of certain programs that attempt to give you a...reigstered version of a program without actually..registering ;\...will come up as some type of malware,BUT, the specific cdma workshop torrents i have took a peek at, contain different types of virus alerts, i strongly advise against just turning off AVG. Programmers/Hackers know that those tools are used to modify phone settings, therefore it is a perfect opportunity to plant a trojan, you must think like a hacker to understand, if this were just a standard windows application your downloading that contains a 'crack', then a lot of the times they are false alerts, but when it comes to something like CDMA workshop, you'd have to be insane to just ignore a trojan alert. Unless u want your identity stolen, which can be done regardless. (I am studying to take my ethical hacker certification), so thats my two cents..

regarding PRLS, i seem to have luck with 60683 in UPSTATE NY region, the newer one didn't seem to do as well...Im going to start a thread for people to post specific PRL's and their LOCATIONS to help others find which may work best for them.

LASTLY, thx to Mr.BOBO, the demo still does work for this prl update, you must change the port manually that your phone connects to via device manager first, then it works no problem, therefore avoid all possible trojans/fake trojans/viruses/whatever you want to call them.

Posted instructions will help with this next part. Everyone should backup their nam1 and nam2. All you have to do is go to the nam tab then press read, then save, title it nam1. Then go to the box next load, select nam2, read, save as nam2. THIS IS A MUST FOR DEVELOPMENT. YOU NEVER KNOW IF YOU WILL WIPE IT BY ACCIDENT. WITH SOME HELP FROM ANOTHER USER, AND MY MEMORY I FIXED MINE. I REQUESTING THIS AS A STICKY, IT IS VERY IMPORTANT. I really don't think you can explain to zte how you got your nam wiped lol

I ran into an odd problem. After successfully updating to the 60686 prl on my ZTE warp, I got great signal and stronger data connection. For about 24 hours. Then suddenly I could no longer make outbound calls (getting a call dropped message). I can get and send texts and RECEIVE calls but everything outbound just drops from the "grey" dialer screen. Anyone have any ideas as to what troubleshooting steps I need to take?

Update your profile and prl

Thanks for the advice. I did both. Profile updated successfully. PRL got a network error. When I try to make a call, all my green bars turn gray, my 3G icon disappears and the call drops after 45 seconds of grey dialer screen.

Well...Boost CS has told me there are no outages in my area. Anybody else have anything before I consider this phone bricked?

Boost should have offered to reactivate your phone for you like they did on my Galaxy Prevail, when I complained about my signal dropping after their latest update. They don't have to know that you've been tinkering with your PRL etc. Just tell them that the phone is freaking out and they should tell you to turn it on and ask you if the battery has a good charge and ask you if you are using a different phone other than the broke phone. And if so they will reactivate it OTA and if you're calling the phone they will give you instructions on what to do. Give them another call and if not call ZTE CS.
Is your warranty still in effect? Hope all goes well friend. :)

I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but I think I messed up.
I'm a newb, but fairly tech savvy ( I'm always looking to tweak the phone or computer). The other night I downloaded CDMA (demo) and hooked up my phone. No worky! I would love it if somebody could help me out ! I live in a sucky cell area for real! Always dropping calls at home when it's most important, Can you help me out please Woodstock??????

So any new prls out these days?

And could someone please post a download link for 60771? I've read good things about it, but can not find it anywhere! I'd like to give it a spin.

What are your thoughts on using a sprint business prl? Say, #11114-11120? From my understanding, 11115 allows sprint customers to use Verizon towers for data. I don't think that would do us boost folks any good tho, would it? Might there be any other benefits from running business prls, like reception, network priority, or voice quality?

I'm running 11115 now and it works, but I'm in good coverage, so hard to say if it's doing any good. Data seems a bit slow tho.

I got my msl using alogcat and the dialer, per a YouTube video.

I'm using CDMA Workshop v3.9.0 demo version to flash the new prl files.

I tried Verizon prl 00001 just for kicks. I got call service, but routed to collect call or customer service when tried to use. Also showed me as a different phone number. No data at all, of course.

when i swich prl i go to phone info and it says i have no service or something, and when i go to boost.com it says i havent paid my bill?? but i have.

Sorry for bumping an old thread, but this thread has lots of misinformation in it.

The vocoder setting has absolutely NOTHING to do with your data speeds. It's control the codec that's used while in a call. The towers may or may not over ride this setting (varies with towers even with the same provider).

Higher bit rate codecs use more bandwidth and may result in dropped calls in congested areas or during peak times. Also, setting the wrong codec can result in calls not going through at all (on poster above had this issue).

Changing the prl should not affect your data speeds either, unless the prl forces the phone into roaming (whether or not it's indicated with a triangle). By using a partner's towers, you may achieve faster speeds.

For example in the chicago area, sprint users are normally blocked from accessing vzw towers when forcing the phone to roam. Therefore, they will only roam on uscc towers (sid 4112). Uscc only allows 1x data when on their towers. By adjusting certain priorities in the prl file, you can force the phone to roam on vzw rather than uscc.

When doing so, 3g speeds will increase significantly (because sprint 3g is crap out here).
