Ok, if your like me and you enjoy customizing android then you should like this short and simple tutorial.
Step 1: Find or make an image you like or want to use
Step 2: Open in Photoshop, then re-size to 480x800 and flip the image horizontally then save it as a 16bit bitmap with color profile R5 G6 B5, you can access color modes with the advanced button.
Step 3: This ones important, open im MS Paint and go to save as then save it as a 24bit Bitmap image.
Step 4: Extract the kernel ramdisk, easiest way is using Dsixdas Kitchen and cygwin.
Choose Option 0 for the Advanced Menu
Then Choose Option 20 for the Boot.img toolset
Choose option W to extract the kernel and ramdisk to the BOOT-EXTRACTED directory
The menu will change to give an option to rebuild the kernel after it has been extracted
Step 5: If you didn't before rename the image to logo.bmp
Step 6: Replace logo.bmp in the ramdisk with the image you edited
Step 7: Repack the ramdisk with the zImage
Step 8: Enjoy
