Root [Boost Mobile] MMs issue's widespread

LilBit

Extreme Android User
Looks like sending mms, pics, etc, is widespread. I found a thread at the Galaxy S2 boost forums where people are complaining of the same thing. It's happening on stock rom's and on rooted stock, rooted custom, stock messaging, go sms, handcent mms, all of it. And it seems as if it is not only Boost Mobile either. Whats Happening Here:confused: So far today I'm not able to even send a pic at all, even with my e-mail apps:mad:

Grrrr...

It's definitely frustrating when things don't work when we want them to. I don't Send TOO many MMS messages, but it annoys me when it doesn't work. They're rushing to get new technologies out, are they putting some of the others by the wayside?

I have a buddy on att, swears by it, but both he and his wifey are having the same problems, just got a message from him not five min. ago. Text only, of course. They both have stock phones.

Its because mms gets routed through the CIA now to check for terrorists ;)

I just sent 2 mms messages a few min before I read this thread, and they went through fine. But I have noticed that sometimes it takes forever to send them. But that was a problem with my 3g speeds I found out. I changed my prl to a sprint prl and changed my multimedia proxy address to 0.0.0.0 and have not had a problem since. You should try it out. It might help you out too.

My GF is on verizon with an I-Phoney, No MMS for her either. She's here in my apt and we are checking each others phones!!

Good info but not everyone can use the software to change prl's.

Besides, I already have tried that and flashed over 40 prl's . no luck on my end:smokingsomb:

Guys my solution worked...it seems my APN wasn't connected to boost's MMS server.
So I used APN Manager Pro and manually added http://mm.myboostmobile.com to the MMSC. I did the same to my girls warp last night. We're sending and receiving pics like it ain't nothing.

Thanks I grabbed the app and it showed 2 apns but said neither were active (not sure how that's possible) so I clicked one to make it active and presto I was able to send mms

This is the first I've heard of any difficulty with MMS at all. Nnot surprising because anytime I want to share a pic I'll either Facebook it or just use Gmail. I don't like having to resize the pic.

Anyway just to throw my test in the mix, I was able to send and receive MMS no problem. I am on IconROM 2.0 and my roommate is on StraightTalk using an old Samsung flip phone. I'm not sure which but I don't tink it's really important.

My PRL is 60678. Seattle area.

How this helps to if you are having problems.

guys,

im sure everyone is aware but the the tri state area was hit badly by huricane sandy most people in the tri state had no\limited cell service for close to a week due widespread power outages. may be this can create issue for others around the country. Sandy hit us on Monday, if problems started around that time it could very well be part of the issues. New york and New Jersey have been declared disaster areas and many areas still have no power or cell phone.

I too have a sprint prl and have changed the proxy address, but I've still had the issues... So no go on that for me.

If some people can't change the prl that's OK, but they should try changing there multimedia proxy, that seemed to be the thing that really helped me :)

The hurricane hit us directly here and it did take a toll on my cell service. We are in Wildwood, NJ not to far from Atlantic City. What a disaster place that is.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you guys... it's a scary thing to be on the receiving end of such destruction.

first u need to find ur MSL number. here is a link to show u how to do that.
http://androidforums.com/boost-mobi...ow-change-your-msl-prl-not-cdma-workshop.html

after u have ur MSL, use these instructions to change ur multimedia proxy settings. u will notice a good sized difference in ur 3G speeds. At least i did. :)

Faster 3G

Ok looks like this link is broken here is a very condensed version

on your phone pad dial ##3282#
enter your msl #
If you dont know it there are other posts to find it.

in the edit menu go to

Others
then Multimedia in there change the proxie address to 0.0.0.0
There are 2 proxies to change. Leave the ports alone
