Root [Boost Mobile] Official help thread

Hey, everybody! Ok, so i have an inspiron 1525, i ditched windows 7 and installed mint 13, and would like to start building roms, does anybody know what this computer is capable of? Im no dev but i do still remember some xml and java from my ipooped days so im hoping i wont get to lost.lol.

The dual core should easily handle most lighter-weight development (the Android Kitchen and all the other miscellaneous utilities) but building from source would most likely be an overnight affair.
 
Thats fine, i work the graveyard anyways. So how do set up git, i already have the kitchen on her, and am looking into apktool etc. When i get home?
 
Lol.what tools did you use to build WOEM, cause i would like to start small(kind of.lol.), and make my own rom based off stock B10.?

My tool set is:

7Zip - to directly manipulate finished ROMs and APKs (swapping files, extracting images, etc.)
ABSM - to reformat startup splash images
dsixda's Android Kitchen - for rooting, boot.img edits and kernel swapping
Notepad++ - an excellent text editor
Paint.NET - the best freeware image editor I've seen... very powerful!
Virtuous Ten Studio - for all the deeper mods involving de/re-compiling
 
Could anyone point me to the thread for Super Phone III install? For my Boost Warp. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :-)
 
I think I might have superphone IV somewhere on my Dropbox... mholloway had me testing it for him before he left the scene... also wrote a switch script for him to turn on and off different properties
 
I'm trying to add a boot sound to go with my droid bootanimation. I've dropped it in mp3 and ogg format in /system/media to no avail. Is there some line somewhere like in build.prop or something that I'm supposed to edit as well?
 
there is "nobootanimation=1" but that applies to boot animation as well as boot sound... if that is present in your build.prop then remove it.
 
Its not present, I've gone through my build.prop tons of times. Plus my animation plays every time I turn on my phone lol
