Newbie
I made a custom boot animation and I tryed multiple times to try to do the root explorer method (copy and paste in the system/media folder) but I either get the same boot animation or just a black screen. Am I doing something wrong? I have the images labeled frame001 002 and so on and so fourth. The resolution to 480x800. I looked up alot of guides but im getting nowhere if someone can help me that would be greatly appreciated thanks ;)

make sure they are a Portable Network Graphic (PNG) File type. If so then make sure they are not saved as indexed colors, this will usually result in the black screen. Switch them to an RGB color format and when zipping it use 7zip and set compression method to store.

Usually i name my file's as bootani001 and so on, when you copy the zip over to /system/media make sure permissions are set to RW-R--R-- and owner is set to root

they are .png and this may sound dumb but how would i know if there indexed colored or not? lol

p.s also i have the permissions set correct but what do you mean set owner to root?

Long Press the file, and select "Change Owner", select 0 - Root and then reboot.

Scroll down on the popup where you set permissions, one of the choices is Owner then choose root for both options, they are the first item in the next popup menu.

However even if the owner isn't set as root, the boot animation will still play.

I use Adobe Photoshop but i'm sure Gimp will allow you to change the color format of your images. Plus Gimp is free :)

Lol Sic beat me to it, you sir are a beast

If you go to Photoshop or gimp editor you can change the PNG from index to rgb mode and vice versa

I guess that's because I'm trying to add your second boot animation there Shin, and I'm stuck in a bootloop, and not getting anywhere.
